I don't know, nor do I understand why people are hating on Jones for not accepting the fight, on 8 days notice. Who the hell wants to see Jones fight Sonnen anyway?? As if that would have been at all competitive...? Right, what a joke! Jones has nothing to gain by accepting that fight, and he would have put Sonnen to shame anyways. It would have been one of the biggest mis matches of all time. If you guys want to be mad at anyone, it's Dana White.

I agree with this. I don't quite understand why Dana would cancel the whole event, as opposed to just making it a free card. They could have salvaged this card, and made it happen. Jones vs Sonnen doesn't make or break an event. Blame Dana, not Jones.

i understand the point you are making, but technically speaking the fighters are not employees. they are independent contractors. which means they dont have to accept any fight they dont want to. but at the same time, it would be wise to keep the brass happy.

Ya man, I get what you are saying. I was amped on this card, as I thought there was a lot of potential money to be made, and a lot of good plays on it. However, I don't think Dana needed to cancel the whole card, just because Jones didn't want to fight Sonnen.. I think Dana could have improvised, and put a whole new main event together if he wanted to. I would blame Dana for screwing over the fighter's, and us (the bettors) by canceling the event, thus putting everyone that was going to fight on that card and everyone who was going to bet on this card out of luck and out of their paycheck. I would blame Dana, not Jones for people getting screwed, but that's just my opinion.

This is what I hate about UFC it seems like every other event the main event gets scrapped or replaced with some other bullshit fight because a fighter gets "injured". This fuking injury shit is getting annoying but to be perfectly honest that whole card was pretty weak besides Hendo vs Jones every other fight looked semi weak. UFC 152 is looking pretty good now. Dana must be pissed first event in UFC history to be canceled, all those tickets have to be refunded all the money from ppv lost, all kinds of shit in the toilet and you know why ? Because they were riding the main event too hard, that was their only bait, the rest of the card was shit so they can't even PPV the rest of the card.

the thing is, the prelims were already scheduled for facebook and fuel tv. so why not keep the prelims as scheduled, and see if they could stick the 4 remaining main card fights on FX? and if not, just scrap those 4 fights and keep the prelims as scheduled. and offer a refund for anyone who bought tickets (like they did with the brazil event).

perhaps its not as simple as that, but it doesnt sound like they even entertained the idea of salvaging the rest of the card.

How do I know which fighter I had picked to win the fight? By knowing what the match-ups are and handicapping them ahead of time. I knew who I was going to be making plays on, how retarded is it to ask me how? I'm betting on fighters, not lines. Obviously if the line for Volkmann is -1000, I wouldn't bet it, but let's just assume all the lines for the fighters I liked would be reasonable.
