#1685your full name?? why would you want random people knowing that information? someone could easily find out where you live. i have kids, mane. i'm not trying to deal with any unncessary b.s.Originally posted by gabeThey know mine. I could give a fk. If you're afraid of people knowing your real identity, then you're just a pussy who hides behind his computer. Only exception is if it could get you fired from your shitty office job. In that case, it's cool to keep it private.
i'd also be disbarred if the wrong people found out about my recreational activities (i.e., i have a shitty office job). if someone knew my name and wanted to screw me over, all they would have to do is send an anonymous letter to my employer or bar association (and with my name they could easily find out my employer).Comment -

#1686At least tell us what your main game is, did you FT in holdem or your game?Originally posted by NunyaBidnessI don't know how other poker players feel, but I've never been like that. The bad beats fade away, especially when you're playing thousands of hands a day. But, I still think quite fondly about the biggest cash game pots I've ever won, and the first time I made a WSOP final table was magical, and I irritate my wife with those stories quite often. I can't even recall how I got knocked out of the WSOP last year or the year before.
Most losing bettors don't keep records, and they're like waitresses (if you've ever dated one), they think they make $300 a night because they remember the night they made $300, and forget all the nights they come home bitching about getting stiffed.

#1689Except, I'm not trying to impress anyone. I don't tell most people I meet in real life what I do, the questions are irritating, and no one is impressed. In 2004 when poker was everywhere people thought it was great, but now they just assume you're a degenerate anyway. Outside of my wife, I don't talk about poker with anyone.Originally posted by fosho14What's your name? nobody is going to paint dicks on your forehead what are you talking about? That's impressive if you really are a professional poker player but it's pretty hard to believe anything you say when your too afraid to reveal your name. I'm the CEO of a very very well respected fortune 500 company, but I don't think I can share with you which company that is, or my name because I'm afraid of the consequences as well.
Poker is like any other job to me, I find it incredibly boring. I find sportsbetting to be much more interesting at this point in my life, because I haven't been doing it as long, but I'm sure I will grow tired of this too.
I personally wouldn't be impressed by anyone telling me they play poker for a living, it's easy to do, and until Black Friday happened last year I would've assumed everyone in the US knew someone who played for a living. #1693i hear you. maybe im just overly paranoid. i just think its too easy to fekk someone over if you have a few pieces of their personal information.Originally posted by fosho14If I was a professional poker player, I would have no problem telling people. Don't see what the harm is. It's not like anyones opinion on here is ever published in the media or news. Who cares. It's actually something to be proud of and ppl would definitely show respect, at least I know I would. But of course all of this remains to be seen if there's no validity or verification. The point is more that something I wouldn't do is boast about making a WSOP final table, but refuse to tell ppl who I am when asked.
i have previously mentioned which city i live in. if someone knew my name, they could easily search the land records in my city and get a shit ton of information about me, including my address, information relating to my assets. they could find out my employer's information. now, would someone actually go through all that trouble to screw me over -- probably not. but why even risk it by putting that information out there?Comment -

#1704You'd be surprised. Lots of people in this business are dead broke, lots of people have a small percentage of their action, are degenerates otherwise. ex. Chino Rheem, TJ Cloutier, Erick Lindgren, etc etc.Originally posted by fosho14I assumed someone who is making a final table in a WSOP event would be doing fairly well for himself.
When I final tabled, I cashed for mid-five figures. It was exciting to be there, but making that in one day seems like a lot of money when you're 18, but when you are a grown up you realize its not going to really change your life. You know what I bought with that money? Nothing, not a thing. I paid my taxes, and deposited it in the bank. I'm boring.Comment -

#1712Surprising but fair enough I guess. I play poker recreationally for fun with friends and online and at the casino (low stakes) occasionally. Love the game, but not good enough to play high stakes online. I like watching it on tv as well, and always thought that would be a stellar way to make a living. I guess apparently it's not as glamorous as it seems or at least not unless you are in the upper echelon of the sport like negranu, ivey, dwan etc. Tom Dwan is sick, love his style of play and the dude is only 25 making bank! I envy that kids life lol.Originally posted by NunyaBidnessI'm not making claims to impress anyone, so just assume I said I'm a gas station attendant. Do you want me to prove that?
