He couldn't get out. Rencountre very good at using his leverage and getting hooks with those long legs. Good shoulder pressure too. What Naurdiev really needs is better energy system management. You're right that his skills are there, but they leave him quickly because he tries to rely on explosive movements too often.

I've never seen anyone transition from a back take standing to flattening someone out on the ground.

Classic example of how even the most skilled can be beat by a trick they've never seen before.
