Pirates, 50$ +144 (Zona's HR/FB unsustainable, Pitchers about even and Mort does not give up the long ball)
Dodgers, 50$ -119 (Kuroda is healthy, the line knock of is too big to ignore, he is healthy and has to perform in contract year)
Atlanta, 50$ +104 (You heard it here, Timmy will finish 3rd in the CY voting)
Tampa Bay 50$, +106 (Until Vaz proves he can pitch for a huge market team, also TAM is really good club at home, I take the +money here)
0-2 for the day with 2 others underway that are looking good. The notorious Nationals and the Stros are waiting to start.

Yesterday the contrarians took it hard on the chin. Let's recap yesterday's disastrous day.
National FF +122 (PUSH)
Under Rockies 9.5 (W)
Indians +138 (L)
Orioles RL -1.5 +135 (L)
Astros +148 (L)
National +128 (L)
Braves -116 (L)
Needless to say a rough one. The contrarian angle is off to a slow start. Many can bail, but in the end we will triumph. This is an opportunity for the square bashers to come out of their handicapping hole. The key to surviving these downturns is money management. A subject that is not discussed enough. My MM is the foundation of the downside. Anyone can survive the upside, that is easy. But enough. Capping games right now.
Beware O Contrare

Spot on, Pair. I think you have the right attitude about some of these teams and angles.
I am 0-2 on the Astros so far, both of them +140ish at home.
But I am also 2-0 on the Pirates, collecting +130 and +150. I think you are correct that if you manage money correctly, you will find yourself in plus unit territory. Continue taking shots on the contrarian side.
I am on CWS with you. Love the spot for them at home, even against Scott Baker. I love playing against good pitchers who are on the road and getting too much credit, such as this spot. Another example today could be Felix Hernandez, getting -145 at Texas. The Rangers have underperformed so far but this game is in Texas right?
The other day I played something like 6 big dogs at home and another 3 on the road. Went something like 3-6, just got obliterated, but only lost 1 unit or so. This is better than laying -180s and getting crushed (which is what I used to do).
Better luck, Sir.

As you have realized, this is no sham thread or selection critieria. No 20 unit bailout crap. I don't think I have seen you in the thread. Hope to hear your analysis and perhaps a beverage at the bash.

I'm looking at the Cubs, Atlanta, Tampa, Seattle and the White Sox. I really think both Chi-town teams can win today. But I'm waiting to see where you land on stuff.
Cubs vs. Reds - the general comments are "can't see how this game will not go over".
I am on UNDER 8.5.

Gl to you today Sir. Although not yet a full convert to the contrarian style, I have watched you enough in the last year, to know that you will right the ship. Taking a serious look at the Cubbies today.

Ok Pair, so that's a two-units play? Or you split one up over two books?
Man, I want to pull the trigger on PIT and HOU both, but I've been through a nerve-wrecking 2-2 (3 of 4 games picked were one run games), and I have the Braves under the lights. So I'll just ride it out and hope for a 3-2. I feel HOU is bound to correct, and does Moyer possibly, conceivably have anything left? But tonight I can't stomach it. Good luck.

This from the Houston Chronicle keeping tabs on former 'stros:
[Due to Ausmus' injury] A.J. Ellis was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque and will catch knuckleballer Charlie Haeger on Sunday against the Marlins so the Dodgers can give Russell Martin a day off.
Haeger has only started 4 games in his MLB career, Ellis 12. Haeger ERA is 5+, it's hard to catch knuckleballers and this tandem has not much MLB experience - maybe the rapport won't be there and the fish can go to town (like they did in that Nemo movie). Marlins are hitting a little bit too to start the season. Is it worth laying the -121 you think?
