Update 40 of 148 have been sweeps so far this season. 1 out of every 3.7 series.
I'm going to start reading the local papers and blogs on teams before I wager on them.
Maybe I'll get some more insight there.
It's obvious players are hurt, unmotivated, or have no leadership in the clubhouse or in upper management. Look at the thing with Griffey in Seattle. These guys are professional and they'll tell you that all that matters is winning when in fact they really don't give a shit about it as they get paid either way. Yes, there are some who have a true passion for the game, but I would say most are just trying to keep from getting hurt, most are protecting their skills from the younger players, and alot are lost causes because they can't juice up anymore. Bottom line is, the public will figure this all out eventually and stop buying tickets. Problem is, the players gettin the money won't have to pay the price, it'll be the young guys trying to establish themselves and the managers that will get sacrificed.
