Play #168: Rays/Angels UNDER 9.5 (-110) Garza vs. O'Sullivan. I said I was staying away from most everything but series bets EXCEPT for the ones with huge trends to follow like Matt Garza. Garza's 21 starts have resulted in 15 UNDERs this season. Only 3 of his starts have gone OVER 9 runs. His road starts are a perfect 10 for 10 in UNDERs this season. 4 of O'Sullivan's 6 starts have resulted in totals of 9 runs or UNDER. He has not yielded more than 4 ER in any start this season.
Uh oh. On this one as well. ...due to break the streak I think. Good luck.

Uncanny. Again why I need to just stick to SERIES bets. I couldn't get a side or total right if you gave me the final score.

Play #169: Mets/Diamondbacks Total Hits OVER 17.5 (-115) Livan Hernandez vs. Max Scherzer. Plugging away with stupidity. No explanation needed, just trying to help those who need fade material make a buck. Get on the side that wins ... which likely will not be mine.

Play #172: Rangers/Indians Total Hits OVER 17.5 (-115) I get to watch this one on TV. Wahoo! Feldman vs. Sowers. Both pitchers usually have troubles getting past 6 IP or so, bullpens should be involved. Who knows. The shadow knows. Fade it or follow it....one side will win. There can be only one!

Play #173: Astros/Marlins OVER 10 (-125) Hampton vs. West. Don't want none, don't get none. Over is 10/11 in the last 11 meetings in Florida. Total is high, but the bats are hot. 51 runs in 3 games. If the well dries up, so be it. Here's to staying wet. LandShark Stadium (horrible beer) averages a shade over 10 runs per game, that's a top 7 output in MLB this season. Here's to staying wet with runs.

Play #175: Yankees Total Hits More Than Mariners PK (-110) I'm not a rocket scientist, but the Mariners have scored 1 run in three straight games against quality lefties. They get another decent one thrown at them tonight with Pettitte. Rowland-Smith ain't bad, but the Yanks are hitting above .300 against lefties on the road. That's probably too many statistical reasons for this to win, so proceed how you should ... maybe take the M's.

There's only been two OVERs in this series in 10 meetings in 2009, Tallet & Kazmir have been involved in 'em both. Pluggin' along baby, pluggin' along.

Play #179: Brewers Team Total OVER 4.5 (-110) Milwaukee and Pittsburgh have met 8 times, 6 times MIL has scored at least 5 runs. They have also scored at least 5 in 8 of their last 10 games overall. PIT has been giving out runs like free condoms at a high school, 7 of their last 10 have featured at least 5 runs for their opponents. Hart has given up 8 ER in two starts for the Pirates. Yeah I was a hair away from chalking up at -230 for them in the series, glad I didn't. I actually screwed myself though. I was going to go for the total hits over in the KC/ChiSox game, but the weather forecast I had seen made it out like the game was going to be scrubbed, so I passed. The Over on hits got in easy as did your Over on the run total.

Play #182: Orioles/Rays Total Hits OVER 17.5 (-120) Matusz vs. Shields. The young lefty for the O's has been giving up hits pretty routinely, including his worst effort last time out, 11 in 5.2 IP. Shields is giving up a little more than a hit per IP this season and BAL is hitting the ball well lately. Plugging along. Want some? Get some.

Play #183: [SERIES] Angels +105 (Blue Jays) Pitching match-ups: O'Sullivan vs. Rzepczynski. Santana vs. Richmond. Bell vs. Romero. O'Sullivan's ERA is high, but the Angels have managed a 7-1 record in his 8 starts. Rzepczynski has a better ERA at 3.98, but TOR is just 2-6 in his starts. Game 2 is a total toss-up. Game 3 is the only one where I see the Jays with an edge, but TOR has dropped Romero's last 3. Angels won a series in Toronto in early June and have won 5 of their last 6 road series. Jays are just 3-7 in their last 10.

Play #188: Mets/Marlins Total HRs OVER 1.5 (-125) Chicks dig the long ball & so do opponents of Nelson Figueroa. Figgy had two starts earlier this season, giving up 4 dingers in those two starts. LandShark Stadium is home to an average of 2.5 HRs per game when the wind is whipping over 10 mph which is the forecast for tonight. It is scheduled to be blowing in from the E-NE (CF/RF). Surprisingly to me at least when the wind blows in harder from CF here, more balls fly out. In 11 games with the wind blowing between 10-20 MPH from the E (In from CF), the average is 2.64 HRs. In 21 games where the wind has been blowing in from CF, games average 2.38 HRs. Shane West tosses for the Fish. He doesn't give up many HRs, but he did cough one up to Omir Santos when he pitched against NY at Citi Field. I'm in a good fading pattern, so do what ya want with this.

Play #190: Indians/Royals Total Hits OVER 18.5 (-110) Huff vs. Hochevar. Huff huff give. That's his M.O. as he yields well more than a hit per IP this season. KC has been hitting pretty well lately & hits lefties at a .283 clip at home. Tribe's bats have been hot in their last 10. Do it. Don't do it. Wait out some rain in this perhaps, but get it on!
