Danks vs. Tazawa. Danks is pretty solid on the road with just under a hit per IP. Tazawa's two best starts of 3 have come at Fenway Park. 1st game of this series had 21 hits. The other two had 19 or less. Do what ya gotta do with this information. There can be only one winner!

Play #194: [SERIES] Twins -125 (White Sox)
Seems crazy to go against the team who is tossing out their best three pitchers: Floyd, Danks & Buehrle, but the White Sox just flat out do not win often in Minnesota. In the last 13 meetings in the Metrodome, Chicago has exactly two wins. ChiSox are also slumping lately, 2-8 in their last 10. You have to go back to a series with Cleveland in late June/early July to find the last White Sox road series win. Since then, they are 1-6-1 in road series, with two loses to the Twins. Twins have been hitting lefties well (.325 in last 10). MIN is 7-3 in their last 10.

Play #195: Angels -0.5 Total Hits (Mariners)
Saunders vs. French. Saunders has been pretty hittable this season, but he still maintains a solid record against Seattle. In two starts against them this season, he has gone 7 IP in each and yielded just 7 total hits. Those games were sandwiched around some mediocre performances, so it appears Saunders just enjoys shutting down Seattle. French has been pretty solid since coming to the M's from Detroit. In 5 starts for SEA, he has yielded 33 hits in 28 IP. If Saunders keeps his stellar form against Seattle, then the Halos bats should be able to do enough damage here. Saunders is always capable of shitting the bed, but I'll roll with the better bats here.

Play #196: Rays Team Total OVER 3.5 (-115)
Lester vs. Sonnanstine tonight. Lester gives up just over 3.5 runs per road start, so the line is set perfectly in tune with that. Lester's three starts vs. TB this season, the Rays have scored 7, 14 & 4. The lowest total coming last time when he only gave up one run, but the Rays hit the BoSox bullpen late. Lester has a 5.00 ERA in 3 career starts at Tropicana Field, 10 ER in 18 IP. In six home games vs. BOS this season, TB has scored at least 4 runs in all 6. Overall in 12 games between the two, TB has gotten at least 4 in 9 of them. Rays have hit lefties well at home, .276. Huge series with a hot Boston team coming in, TB bats have to get it done if the Rays want to stay in the WC race.

                      Play #197: Cubs -1.5 (+100) [Astros]
Paulino vs. Lilly. I'll take the bait here. Lilly has owned the 'Stros in his career with a 6-1 record in 9 career starts. All three against them this season have been wins by more than two runs. In his last 8 starts vs. HOU, 6 of them have resulted in wins by two runs or more. Lilly is also 6-1 with an ERA under 2 at home this season. In 9 of the Cubs' 10 wins against Houston, they have won by two runs or more. Paulino's starts have been sketchy mostly, especially on the road where 4 starts have yielded 4 losses by two runs or more. This is Paulino's first start in about a month.

It's Matt Garza day! But low & behold, today I play against the UNDER trend for Garza and take the nice alternative line on the OVER at 7.5. On the road, Garza is an all-day, every-day UNDER play - but at home, it's been almost half & half on the O/U with 5O & 7U. In looking at those 12 games, 9 have gotten to at least 8 runs. Beckett has been getting beat down lately, which hopefully will help in this one. Beckett has given up 20 ER in his last 3 starts. On the road, his games average 9.46 runs. Against TB in three starts, the totals have fallen at 7, 13 (@TB) & 8. In the game at Tampa between the two this season, 6 of 7 have hit at least 8 runs. Of the 13 games this season, 10 have hit at least 8 runs or more.

Play #199: Dodgers Team Total OVER 4 (-115)
Scherzer vs. Billingsley. Scherzer faced LA once this season in L.A. where the Dodgers wound up winning 3-1 back in May. Since that road start, opponents have scored 4 runs or more in Scherzer starts in 8 of 10 (8 straight). At home, Billingsley has been backed with at least 4 runs in 9 of 14 starts. In Scherzer's last 6 starts, 5 of them have resulted with the opponent scoring at least 4 runs.

                              Play #200: Brewers/Cardinals UNDER 9 (-115)
Parra vs. Smoltz. Parra has been dog crapola for most of the season, but he has actually pitched well against St.Louis. That could be due to the Cards struggles vs. lefties, just .228 at home this season and below .200 in their last 10. Parra has faced them three times & given up 3 ER or less in all three starts. Smoltz has been revitalized in the NL, but part of that can be attributed to facing the Nats & Padres in his first two starts. Now, he steps up a level against MIL. This is the next step if he's to be a big part of STL's stretch run.

Rangers trying to stick & stay in the Wildcard race & the A.L. West. These are the series they can ill afford to lose. Feldman vs. Tillman in the opener tonight. Feldman is 10-1 on the road this season & the Rangers are 11-2 in his road starts. Millwood vs. Matusz in Game 2. Millwood is 9-2 in 12 career starts vs. BAL. Matusz has been hit & miss, but the O's are 3-3 in his 6 starts. Sunday's finale would be Holland vs. Guthrie. Edge to BAL if it goes to a 3rd game as Holland has been hit very hard in his last 2 starts. BAL is 2-8 in their last 10 at home and haven't won a 3 game series at home since mid July. Rangers are 3-1 in Baltimore this season. TEX bats actually showed some life vs. TOR in their most recent homestand. They need to carry that over.

Zambrano vs. Parnell. Both have been iffy lately, giving up a lot of hits. Cubs bats really have to step up at some point. Mets have been hitting fairly well of late, .316 vs. righties in last 10.

Blackburn vs. Huff. Huff has been used & abused by MIN this season, about 2 hits per IP. Blackburn has been off & on this season, but gives up more than an IP per road start.

Garza vs. Sabathia. It's Matt Garza day! Garza is an UNDER machine on the road, 11 of 12 hitting that way. Three starts vs. NYY this season, all have fallen at 9 runs or less. 8 of his 10 day starts have also gone UNDER. In 5 games between these two teams in New York this season, 3 have gone under today's total.

It's time for Snell to give a little. Weaver has been giving up hits, even in his good performances. In 5 starts against WAS this season, the lowest total was 8. Martin has two starts vs. FLA and those both hit 9 or higher as well. Overall, this series has featured a good amount of OVERs as well with 11 of 15 this season between the two teams hitting OVER.

Cueto has been very solid in 4 of his last 5 starts and has dominated the Pirates in nearly each start vs. PIT in his career. He is 4-2 with a 3.34 ERA against the Bucs. Reds are 2-1 in his starts vs. PIT in 2009 with the last two meetings resulting in wins. Cueto going 13 IP and giving up just 1 ER in those 2 appearances. Duke has been decent vs. CIN, but the Pirates are just 2-8 in his last 10 starts.

All three of Manship's starts have ended with 9 runs or less. The MIN pen figures to get involved as Manship hasn't managed to stretch it out from the bullpen very well, not going longer than 5 IP in any of those starts. Danks' UNDER numbers at home are 8 of 13 in favor of the lower number. 7 of his last 8 starts have been UNDER tonight's total. UNDER is also strong for MIN, hitting in 7 of their last 8 roadies and for the CHISOX with their last 14 home games hitting UNDER 11 times.

TEX has won his last 9 road starts. They are also 6-0 in his day starts in 2009. The lefty Anderson has been solid recently, but TEX is hitting lefties better in their last 10 at a .292 clip. With the season dwindling down to its last games, TEX is desperate to remain in the Wildcard & AL West races. This is one they have to have. Feldman can also tie Sabathia & Wainright for the major league lead in wins at 18 if he gets one today.
