An all-time great continues his quest to return to the top of the mountain, and a streaking veteran is looking to add a legend to his growing list of victims during the UFC Fight Night main event on Saturday. Read on for our Font-Aldo picks.

For years, Jose Aldo was the boogeyman, and a terrifying figure who violently tore through the featherweight division with devastating leg kicks, and ferocious, fight-ending combinations.

champion in both the WEC and UFC, Aldo went nearly nine years without tasting defeat. He owns a sterling 30-7 record, with many wins coming against some of the greatest lighter-weight fighters ever. There are a few 145-pounders who probably would have become champions if they didn’t exist during Aldo’s prime wrecking years.

But Rob Font likely isn’t shaking in his four-ounce gloves.

The 34-year-old has squared off against former and current champions while authoring an impressive 19-4 record over his 10-year career. Of those wins, 12 have come via stoppage. Font can put a man to sleep.

Here are my Font-Aldo picks and predictions for Saturday’s bantamweight main event (odds via Fanduel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook, and pick confidence is based on a one-to-five star scale).

Font vs. Aldo Odds Analysis

The Font-Aldo lines opened pretty close, with Font showing up as a -115 favorite in some sportsbooks, while Aldo could be snagged at -105. The lines have widened since, with Font showing as a -145 favorite at DraftKings. Aldo can be found at +125 via DraftKings, which absolutely makes him a live dog.

Rob Font Betting Profile

Font is still one of the best 135-pounders, though he lacks Aldo's mythical presence. In his fight during UFC Fight Night 188, Font used his piston-like jab to dominate former champion Cody Garbrandt over 25 minutes en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Prior to the Garbrandt triumph, Font racked up consecutive wins over Marlon Moraes, Ricky Simon, and current Bellator bantamweight overlord Sergio Pettis. Much like Aldo, a win Saturday night could launch “Helvetica”* into the 135-pound title picture.

Jose Aldo Betting Profile

A legend of the sport, Aldo’s blood-soaked resume includes wins over Cub Swanson, Ricardo Lamas, Chan Sung Jung, Kenny Florian, Urijah Faber, Mike Brown, Chad Mendes, and Frankie Edgar (the list goes on). Aldo’s vicious, vaunted, debilitating leg kicks, and sudden bursts of fight-ending violence have devastated a murderer's row of fighters.

The veteran hasn't been as sharp as he grows a little longer in the tooth (at least in cage years), losing a few bouts here and there. But generally, those defeats have come only against the upper echelon of the featherweight division. He moved down to bantamweight and dropped two straight: a razor-close split decision to Moraes, and a fifth-round TKO to current champion Petr Yan.

Aldo has put together two consecutive wins since losing to Yan, earning unanimous decisions over Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz. He could be on the shortlist of bantamweight title contenders if Aldo beats Font.

Font vs. Aldo Predictions

Aldo to win (+125)

There will be one more vintage Aldo performance.

Font is an effective striker with an excellent jab. But that might not matter if Aldo batters his legs. He'll slow Font’s offense with those patented leg kicks, and score with combinations for 25 minutes en route to a…

Aldo to win by decision (+275)

Although I think Aldo will win, the fight-ending explosiveness that defined his earlier years isn't quite the same. He won’t completely separate the talented and tough Font from his senses on Saturday night. But he’ll do enough to win a hard-fought unanimous decision.
