The South American qualifiers are on fire! If Argentina and Brazil win, they should be on the safe side to make it to Qatar. On the other side, at least one among Uruguay, Colombia, Peru and Chile will cry due to elimination. And as the situation goes, it could be even two of those teams.

And now, they have to play each other in this round so let's take a look at the betting odds for this Thursday's South American Qualifiers.

Uruguay vs. Colombia

Thursday, October 07, 2021 - 07:00 PM EDT at Estadio Centenario

Uruguay and Colombia are among those that actually aren't underperforming. Uruguay is third with 15 points and Colombia is fifth with 13 units. Ecuador is in between tied with Colombia, but the difference between the two positions is pretty sensitive as the fifth goes to an extra playoff game for a spot in the World Cup. Uruguay has been very solid as they are: taking off the 4-2 to Bolivia, in the other last four games they have scored twice and conceded just once.

They are more effective at home than on the road, but the real difference was winning 0-3 in Colombia, which pave the way for Colombia's former manager to be sacked. The Cafeteros need to take their revenge for that, as well as for the head-to-head table which, in their case, could especially make the difference.

The Pick

With new manager Reinaldo Rueda they are undefeated in Qualifiers, winning Peru and Chile and drawing Argentina, and almost getting in the Copa America final. It will be very leveled till the end, and a draw could come precious for both.

Paraguay vs. Argentina

Thursday, October 07, 2021 - 07:00 PM EDT at Estadio Defensores del Chaco

There is a completely brand new self-esteem for Argentina since they won Copa America. Their path to qualifiers doesn't seem an issue at all. Although, on the road, there are still some tricky defenses that are pretty hard to take on.

Paraguay is one of them. They don't play really attractive football (well they never have...), but in Asuncion, they are damn hard to beat, taken down only by Brazil so far. When they played the first leg in Buenos Aires, Paraguay was able to pick a draw, and after that Argentina struggled with Colombia and Chile.

The Pick

If the Albiceleste was playing this week at home, they would win easily but on away games they still find it a bit difficult to fix up the issues, even risking to concede during a drawn game in Bolivia against a much lesser team. Paraguay is currently sixth but only two points away from direct qualification, so they'll be fully motivated.

Peru vs. Chile

Thursday, October 07, 2021 - 09:00 PM EDT at Estadio Nacional

The pisco derby, referring to the famous South American liquor that for centuries has divided the two neighbors who still bicker about who´s the true creator of this nectar. It's actually their real derby, which in last years has been drastically reversed on the Chilean side due to the two consecutive Copa America's they've won after a century of total drought.

They both started pretty bad, currently at seventh and eighth place with eight and seven points, respectively. A defeat could be definitive for the hopes of either team to make it to Qatar. There will be a lot of fear as both look to avoid mistakes that could change the game.

The Pick

Lately, Chile is struggling even more because, in spite of having much more quality than Peru, they are still dealing with a lot of injuries and huge underperforming key players.

Not conceding will be the first worry for both of them, and could be the only thing happening. Look for both teams to draw for your Conmebol picks this Thursday.
