Manchester City and Newcastle slipped up on New Year’s Eve, with the sides drawing at home to relegation candidates Everton and Leeds, respectively. While they were dropping points, Arsenal were winning on the road to extend their lead atop the table to seven points.

Third-place Newcastle travel to face the Gunners on Tuesday, and Manchester City also head to London on Thursday for a mouth-watering clash at Chelsea. Manchester United have won three straight and occupy a top-four spot, and they’re at home to Bournemouth. This is a big round of fixtures ahead of the FA Cup weekend.

United’s victory at Wolves on New Year’s Eve was Erik ten Hag’s 10th Premier League win over his first 16 games. 

Bournemouth have lost six of their last seven Premier League affairs. The 36 goals they’ve conceded this season are a league-worst.

They head to Old Trafford to face the Red Devils, who have scored six in their last three Premier League matches while conceding just one. The Cherries’ leaky defense faces the ominous task of shutting out the in-form Marcus Rashford. The United forward has scored in three consecutive appearances in all competitions for the club, doing so for the first time since November 2019.

Manchester United are on a roll under Ten Hag, so expect them to cover here. Most books are offering 1.5 on the spread, all with negative odds. It’s worth the half goal at DraftKings to push the juice up.

This game is huge for both Southampton and Nottingham Forest. These are the types of matches each team needs to win to boost survival hopes. The Saints are in terrible form, losing each of their last five outings in the competition. 

Both of these sides are poor defensively and struggle to score. The team that scores could win. Southampton have been in this position before and are experienced enough to find a way to survive. They benefit from the extra rest day and haven’t needed to travel far over the festive period, which will give them an advantage on Wednesday.

Only Manchester City have scored more goals (44) in the competition this season than Arsenal (40). Newcastle United (32) have scored the fifth-most goals in the Premier League. They possess the firepower to do it, but they can also be exposed at the back, as seen over the past week. The team heads to southeast London for a derby match with Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Patrick Vieira’s side enjoyed an impressive road win at Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve, and the club is now three points outside the top seven. 

The Selhurst Park crowd will be loud, and the home support will boost Palace against a Spurs side that’s had less time to prepare. However, Tottenham should own the quality to win this scrappy midweek match. Antonio Conte won’t be happy with his team's recent displays, and he'll make sure the squad is fired up for this one.
