It doesn't get any better than this Bundesliga comeback: Leverkusen-Bayern is the match among the top two leaders and, although it sounds as if Leverkusen will fall sooner or later, they're still in better form than Bayern.

Glory for the Borussia's who'll look to win ground on the teams ahead of them against Mainz and Stuttgart. Let's get into the Bundesliga odds for Matchday 8!

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Bayern Munich

Sunday, October 17, 2021 - 09:30 AM EDT at BayArena

Nobody would have ever bet on such an outcome at this point of the season, which is still very early, but anyway Leverkusen was tipped to struggle to be among the European spots, and now the team is looking down on Dortmund and Leipzig from above and staring Bayern right in the eyes.

What is even more surprising is that this is Bayern's fault. By now, they could have left everybody else behind but then lost in the last match before the break, therefore allowing Leverkusen to tie them in points. So Bayern lost in Allianz against Eintracht, not exactly an impossible game and now this game could actually work as a wake-up call for the Bavarians.

Unfortunately, this is the worst possible news for Leverkusen, who has been impressive so far: five wins in a row in official games, 14 goals scored and only two conceded.

Defensive Woes

Nonetheless, before stumbling versus Frankfurt, the streak was nine wins in a row for Bayern, so they've earned the right to get distracted once in a while. What definitely isn't working properly yet is the defense, as they have been able to shut the door only against two teams: Bochum and Hertha.

In that sense, Leverkusen has always found the net, especially considering they've scored 19 goals in the last six matchdays. It will be a high-paced game and that fits perfectly with Bayern. Their defensive power will be even more shaken by the latest news of Lucas Hernandez and his search for arrest, by Spanish authorities, for an alleged sexual assault.

Anyways, I digress so sticking to football, when the match is open and entertaining, Bayern will be able to take it on their side with no shame to concede chances and goals as they'll also miss Pavard due to suspension, which could turn into leaving the backline more exposed. Because of this, also watch out for Leverkusen to score as second as, historically speaking, they always score against Bayern right after conceding a goal.

The Pick

Borussia Dortmund vs. FSV Mainz

Saturday, October 16, 2021 - 09:30 AM EDT at Westfalen Stadion

Borussia Dortmund went into the break breathing better, getting unexpectedly closer to the top, in spite of not shining, but having to cope with Haaland missing in their last three games. Mainz had a great start to the season but then got only one point and one goal scored in the last three games, even though they played Freiburg and Union at home.

Now Haaland is back, so Dortmund could feel the vibe of the return and making the game theirs since the beginning.

Borussia Moenchengladbach vs. VfB Stuttgart

Saturday, October 16, 2021 - 12:30 PM EDT at Borussia-Park

Gladbach started slowly but the last two results were one more surprising than the rest: two wins in a row against Dortmund and Wolfsburg, and it's even more shocking considering that they didn't achieve that since the last March.

Stuttgart finally won a game after five winless matches, something it didn't happen to them since last October. Both defenses though have huge limits, but Gladbach seemed to have picked up the pace soo let's back them for our Bundesliga pick here.
