Europa League Matchweek 1 gets underway Wednesday, and I’m targeting three wagers in my AC Milan vs. Benfica prediction.
These two European heavyweights are more accustomed to Champions League football, but both should have legitimate ambitions of making a deep run in the Europa League. AC Milan enters as the betting favorite at San Siro, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Paramount+.
I expect Milan to come away with all three points, but the Over is my best bet for this Matchweek 1 clash.

AC Milan are in the infancy of their Serie A campaign and have allowed at least one goal in three of four games under new coach Ruben Amorim’s watchful eye.
But they have enjoyed a healthy offensive start, bagging at least two goals three times. The only exception came in a 1-1 draw in Turin against a solid Juventus side. Amorim will be wary of playing a Benfica side that has been prolific going forward.
Benfica leads all teams in the Primeira Liga with 21 goals in six matches, six more than the second-most prolific teams, FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon. I like AC Milan to secure all three points, but I expect Benfica to get on the scoresheet.
