The Ottawa Senators will attempt to win consecutive games for the first time since October when they invade the Crypto.com Arena to take on the Los Angeles Kings. Read on for our top Senators-Kings NHL picks.

Quite simply, Ottawa has been horrendous this season. Following a hot streak that saw them rack up four consecutive wins in late October, the Senators have completely cratered, posting a miserable 3-10-1 record since. On a positive note, they are heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Kings hot on the heels of a 5-1 win over the fellow bottom-feeding Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Although not off to nearly as tragic of a start as the Sens (not even close), Los Angeles is definitely a middle-of-the-road team that will likely be in a dogfight for a playoff spot until the end of the season. They too charge into this game fresh off a win over a lowly California-based team. Viktor Arvidsson notched a goal and an assist as the Kings topped the San Jose Sharks 5-2 on Friday.

Here are our Senators-Kings NHL picks for Sunday (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and Caesars Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Senators vs. Kings Odds

Senators vs. Kings Odds Analysis

If you’re looking to back the Kings, DraftKings has the best value at -155 odds on the moneyline. Should you look to drop some cash on the road dogs, DraftKings is also the place to go (+135).

The goal total sits at 6.5, with the Over paying out at +100 (DraftKings), while the Under pays out at -115 odds (Caesars).

Senators vs. Kings Picks

  • Moneyline: Kings (-155 via DraftKings) ★★★★
  • Over/Under: Under 6.5 (-115 Caesars) ★★★★
  • Prop: Brady Tkachuk Over 3.5 shots (-138 via FanDuel)★★★★

Senators vs. Kings Moneyline Pick

Kings (-155) ★★★★

As far as pure statistics are concerned, there isn’t a large gulf between these teams. That said, Los Angeles is the superior team in goals, goals surrendered, expected goals for, and expected goals for percentage. The Kings are also 6-3-1 during their most recent 10-game stretch.

Considered a dark horse in the Atlantic Division heading into the season, the Sens have dropped three of their last four games, and have only scratched together three wins over their past 14 contests. They can’t seem to find any sort of consistency, and I don’t expect them to discover it on Sunday night.

Back the Kings to win, though I wouldn’t bet the puck line since there really isn’t much separating these teams statistically.

Senators vs. Kings O/U

Under 6.5 (-115) ★★★★

Both the Sens and Kings are middle-of-the-pack teams in regard to goal scoring and are bottom-10 teams in goals surrendered. As such, there is some potential for a crooked number on the scoreboard. That’s not the way I’m leaning, though.

Ottawa has mustered a single goal in three of its past four games and has combined with its opponents to score six or fewer goals in seven straight outings. The Kings, for their part, are getting much better results, but have combined with their opponents to score six or fewer goals three times in their past five games.

I’m envisioning a 3-2, 4-2 type affair on Sunday night.

Senators vs. Kings Prop Pick

Tkachuk Over 3.5 shots (-138) ★★★★

Despite the Sens’ persistent troubles, captain Brady Tkachuk is filling the stat sheet. Tkachuk has racked up eight goals and 23 points in 20 games while averaging more than 18 minutes of ice time per game. He’s also absolutely launching frozen rubber at an alarming rate, ranking 10th in the league with 88 shots on goal. He’s averaging 4.4 shots per game, has topped the four-shot plateau in six straight games, and 13 times overall.

This is where I see some value. Expect Tkachuk to continue his quest to give every NHL goaltender rubber burns.
