A five-game slate is on tap for Sunday, so I've found three of my favorite bets to place in my latest NHL predictions today. Games we'll focus on include Panthers vs. Blackhawks, Islanders vs. Stars, and Avalanche vs. Predators.

The Predators' puck line as a home underdog is my best bet today. Nashville has covered +1.5 in three of their last four contests, while the Avalanche have lost two of their last three matchups. Predators +1.5 is my best bet on Sunday's NHL slate.

NHL best bet today

Predators +1.5 (-120 via BetMGM)

Juuse Saros is expected to start tonight for the Predators. Nashville's top goaltender has helped them cover +1.5 in 6 of his last 7 starts.

Colorado is coming off a 6-3 win over the Lightning at home. However, the Avalanche have lost 2 straight road games.

Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to start for the Avalanche in goal tonight. He's got a .892 save percentage and has allowed 3 goals in 3 consecutive starts for Colorado.

The Predators' offense is 25th in goals scored per game (2.56), but it has a good opportunity against a pedestrian netminder.

Go to BetMGM and bet Predators +1.5 at -120 odds.

📡 SBR Edge: Sell High on the Avalanche

The Avalanche have lost four straight games as a betting favorite after a win.

More NHL picks & predictions

Blackhawks +1.5 (-155 via BetMGM)

Chicago is not a tremendous offense, ranked 30th in the NHL with just 2.33 goals scored per game. However, the Blackhawks will host a Panthers team that has lost consecutive road games.

The goaltenders in this matchup are expected to be Jacob Markstrom (Panthers) and Spencer Knight (Blackhawks). While Markstrom has the edge with a 2.21 GAA to Knight's 3.52 GAA, the Panthers' netminder has allowed 3 goals in consecutive starts.

A key trend here is the Panthers and day games. Florida has failed to cover the puck line in 11 straight games played during the day. The opening puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. ET.

Stay on BetMGM to bet Blackhawks +1.5 at -155 odds.

Islanders at Stars (-115 via DraftKings)

One of the league's best goaltenders, Jake Oettinger, is set to patrol the net for the Stars tonight against the Islanders. Dallas' netminder has a stout 1.23 GAA, holding opponents to 2 or fewer goals in 5 of his past 6 starts.

The Islanders will trot out Semyon Varlamov in net. He has a 0-1-2 record as a starter for New York, allowing 5 goals in his last 2 starts.

The Stars have cashed the goal total under in 10 straight games, largely due to the elite play of Oettinger. The Islanders are also 7-2-1 on goal total unders to start this season.

Go to DraftKings and bet Under 5.5 goals at -115 odds.
