The Flyers will seal the deal and finish off the Penguins tonight at PPG Paints Arena, with the usual suspects leading the way.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to stave off elimination again tonight when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at PPG Paints Arena. Oddsmakers think that could be the case, with the Pens lined as a -135 betting favorite ahead of puck drop at 7 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN.

My Flyers vs. Penguins prediction breaks down why the visitors will pull off the upset and finish off their Pennsylvania rival in their own barn. I'm also going to highlight a player I think is set to shine with the season on the line, and build my favorite SGP as we swing for the fences (or perhaps use a more hockey-relevant adage).

🏆 Who will win Flyers vs. Penguins?

The Flyers have remained the better team throughout the series, including Game 4 when they failed to complete the sweep: Philly still had more xG than Pittsburgh (3.65 - 3.11). Arturs Silovs played a lights-out game for the Pens, but that's the type of performance that he's failed to replicate throughout the season.

I'm banking on Silovs reverting back to the norm (he finished the regular season with an .888 SV% after posting .862 marks in both March and April), and I'm banking on that meaning the Flyers finish the job on the road.

Score prediction: Flyers 3, Penguins 1

💰 Flyers vs. Penguins prediction & best bet

Flyers moneyline (+115)

On top of the Silovs situation mentioned above, there are more reasons to back the Flyers tonight, namely how much their defense has held Pittsburgh in check in this series and, in general, has held teams in check all season. The Flyers finished the season with just 149 goals allowed in 5-on-5 play, tied for the fifth-best mark in the league.

Dan Vladar is also a clear x-factor for Philadelphia, logging a .926 SV% and 1.76 GAA through four playoff games. He was also third in the regular season with a 2.42 GAA mark (.906 SV%). He'll bounce back.

🔥 Best Flyers vs. Penguins player prop bet

Christian Dvorak to record 1+ points (+110)

There are numerous names in the Flyers offense that carry more weight than Dvorak, such as linemate Travis Konecny, but the price is absolutely perfect.

Opportunity breeds outcomes in this type of market, and Dvorak shares a line with the Flyers' point-leader and to-be superstar rookie next year, Porter Martone. It's resulted in three points in the series for the pivot, as he's picking up meaningful minutes in both 5-on-5 play and on the power play.

Following a season of highs in goals (18) and assists (33), Dvorak is still undervalued here. The price at DraftKings is +110, but I'd pay this down to at least +100, which still seems more than fair, given that Martone (-150) and Konency (-125) are both trading at significantly worse prices.

🚀 Flyers vs. Penguins same-game parlay

This SGP won't be as big as some of the swings we've taken recently, as all three legs correlate pretty closely. I like to place my SGPs at bet365, as it offers some of the best sportsbook promos

I broke down my reasoning above for the Flyers ML and for the Dvorak point, but my play on the Over 5.5 very much lines in with the analysis above related to Salovs. I just don't think the Pens goalie is going to put in another solid performance, and with elimination on the line, empty net goals become a real reality.

💡 How I'm betting Flyers vs. Penguins

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

I've held a similar pattern for all of my postseason games, and I'm not making much of a change here: two units for the main plays on the game. This game, unlike many others, I'm sticking to just the three plays on the moneyline, total, and a single player prop. I do really like the plus-money value on the Flyers moneyline and I like the collapse of Silovs enough to have me putting additional money into those markets that I might normally cleave off for the second player prop.

📊 Live Flyers vs. Penguins odds: Game 5

Not shockingly there hasn't been much movement in this market. That's been the case for the entire playoffs: oddsmakers are comfortable with their opening lines within reason, and it shows. At bet365, the action opened with Philly +120 and now trades at +115, and some of the other best sports betting sites show even less movement. And I'm not expecting a lot leading up to puck drop.

Depending on your wants, you'll likely be able to find the total flipping back and forth from 5.5 to a flat 6 all day, with either the Over or Under juiced, respectively.
