My NHL predictions today feature two of the league's hottest players and a Vegas Golden Knight who usually feasts on the Calgary Flames.

Connor McDavid, Kirill Kaprizov, and Mitch Marner headline today’s picks, with the former on pace for a record-setting season. While it’s still early, McDavid is laying the groundwork for a once-in-a-generation campaign.

NHL best bet today

Mitch Marner Over 1.5 points (+190 via bet365)

Marner has only one multi-point game this season, but he’s facing the Flames, a team he has dominated for the past two seasons. Marner tallied 13 points against the Flames in the previous five meetings, notching at least two points every time.

The highlight of that sample came in the previous meeting, when Marner exploded for five points (3 goals, 2 assists) at home. While the Golden Knights are in a prime spot for a letdown game after returning from a two-game road trip, Marner is almost unerringly prolific against their Pacific Division rivals.

📡 SBR Edge: Flames' poor defense opens the door for Marner

The Flames have the worst defensive record in the league, allowing 4.83 goals per game and 4.39 goals per 60 minutes.

More NHL picks & predictions

Connor McDavid Over 1.5 points (-120 via bet365)

McDavid’s rampant streak will come to an end at some point, but I expect him to have at least one more 2-point outing before it does. The Edmonton Oilers return home to play the Utah Mammoth, where McDavid is traditionally more productive. He averaged 1.76 points per game at Rogers Place last season.

Overall, McDavid has 17 points, scoring at least two in five of six contests. He’s on pace for an outrageous, record-breaking 238 points. Oh, and he registered at least two points in all six previous meetings with Utah.

Kirill Kaprizov anytime goal (+140 via bet365)

Kaprizov scored five goals in the previous two games, potting a hat trick against the Florida Panthers and a pair against the Winnipeg Jets. His goals against the Jets came on just 0.51 expected goals, showcasing how clinical he’s been in front of the goal.

With eight goals in seven games, he’s one goal ahead of Kyle Connor for the league lead.

Kaprizov scored three goals in the previous three meetings against the St. Louis Blues and has an unsustainably high shooting percentage of 40. That said, I’m backing the man with the scorching hand to keep his goal-scoring explosion going.
