The 2026 season is getting late early for these two AFC South rivals as I break down my Texans vs. Colts prediction for Week 3.

The Texans are a 2.5-point betting favorite Sunday, with kickoff from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS).

What is going on with the Texans' defense? Houston ranks 23rd in defensive EPA/play after leading the league in that category last season.

On the other sideline, however, is the worst defense in football. The Colts are dead last in points allowed, yards allowed, and defensive EPA/play.

This game features two of the NFL's most porous defenses through two weeks, which is why I love backing Over 42.5 at FanDuel's market-best -110 price tag. I would still comfortably take the Over up to 44.5 points.

Colts already facing depth concerns

Indianapolis is already in crisis mode with significant injuries to both their WR and CB rooms, two of their shallowest position groups to begin with.

Top wideout Alec Pierce is out for at least the next month, while DB Charvarius Ward's absence last week versus the Chiefs further exposed the disappointing play of expensive corner Sauce Gardner.

Even when they aren't at their best, the Texans have had the Colts' number.
