Packers vs. Patriots prediction & best bet

Packers +3.5 (-118 via DraftKings)

Even without Micah Parsons, this Packers defense has really been rounding into shape. Green Bay ranks fifth-best in EPA/play allowed and has the second-most takeaways. That will be a tough task for a banged-up Patriots offense this week.

New England will be severely limited by injuries to its pass-catching group, likely without A.J. Brown, Hunter Henry, Romeo Doubs, and Mack Hollins against the Packers.

Green Bay will also have the rest advantage, since the Packers haven't played since last Thursday night. That puts them in a prime position to keep this matchup close and threaten to steal one on the road. I love backing the Packers to cover the 3.5-point spread, but I'm looking elsewhere if it shortens to Packers -2.5.

📡 SBR Edge

The Packers rank fifth in the NFL with 2.75 sacks per game.

Maye will be under fire

On top of missing key pass-catchers, the Patriots are also working through offensive line injuries. Depending on the status of tackle Morgan Moses, who is questionable, New England could be down three starters along its offensive line.

That unit will have its hands full against a Green Bay defense that has two five-sack games over the last three weeks. To me, this projects as a coin-flip game that will be won by three points or less.

Play to: Packers +3.5 (-125), pass at Packers +2.5.

Score prediction: Patriots 23, Packers 21
