Buccaneers vs. Bears prediction & best bet

Under 47.5 (-110 via FanDuel)

The Under is the best play for Sunday Night Football, given both teams' defensive form heading into this matchup.

The Bucs are the NFL's top-ranked defense by EPA/play, while the Bears aren't far behind at eighth-best. Chicago's unit should climb those rankings even further in the second half of the season with the dominant inside presence of Jeffery Simmons now in the fold.

These are also two squads that focus on run-heavy play scripts, both ranking top six in the league in run-play percentage. That will translate to fewer possessions and fewer points in prime time. I bet Under 47.5 at FanDuel's market-best -110 odds, but I'd play it at -120 at the best sports betting sites.

📡 SBR Edge

Only two Bucs games have finished Over 47.5 points this season.

Mayfield more of a game-manager?

The Bucs are a run-first, defense-reliant team right now. The rainy conditions against the Falcons last week obviously played a role in Baker Mayfield's zero-completion performance, but he only attempted 11 passes the week prior after returning from injury.

A major reason for that is Bucky Irving has played like one of the league's best running backs in recent weeks. I anticipate a ton of rush attempts from both teams to keep the scoring down.

Play to: Under 45.5 (-105)

Score prediction: Bears 24, Buccaneers 20
