Though the New York Jets experienced another lackluster season in 2021, they hope the foundation has been set. Read on for our Jets team odds, picks, and preview.

Jets quarterback and No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson showed flashes as a rookie. Now armed with more playmakers around him after an offense-heavy draft, there are expectations for a step forward from Wilson during his sophomore campaign.

With teams around them in the AFC East loading up this offseason, most experts would predict another last-place finish for the Jets. But hunting for value in areas the market might be overlooking is how savvy bettors make their hay.

Below, we preview the 2022 NFL season for the Jets with a look at their futures odds and our top picks (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook).

Jets to win the AFC East (+2200)

Even with a beefed-up offense that includes Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, the path for New York to race past Buffalo in 2022 is incomprehensibly narrow. The Dolphins and Patriots pose greater threats to the Bills than the inexperienced Jets.

Further down, I’ll make a compelling case for a different wager if you’re looking to throw away some money on the Jets being successful.

Under 5.5 wins (+135)

There's an opportunity for the Jets to find their way to six wins. But making that play is tough to swallow because of some ridiculously juiced-up odds.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel seem to believe the public is eager to support the Jets, forcing you to lay -165 odds on Over 5.5 wins. Though six feels doable, I could also see Wilson's development stagnating and the Jets' league-worst scoring defense remaining poor.

If they don’t win enough tossup games, the Jets could easily finish at 5-12 or worse. Hefty plus-money odds on another dud year pushes me toward the Under.

To make the playoffs (+700)

Though I don’t see a realistic way for the Jets to make the playoffs, I can’t advocate throwing your hard-earned cash on the -1100 odds required to fade them. So let’s imagine for a moment the route the Jets could take to a wild-card berth.

Games against the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 (without Deshaun Watson?) are winnable contests. The Jets could steal a couple of divisional matchups, throw in a tie somewhere, and pray for a watered-down conference in which a 9-7-1 record earns a No. 7 seed.

Do I expect that to happen? No, but Wilson taking a leap forward is all that might be required for this +700 bet to get interesting.

Moore Under 800.5 receiving yards (-115)

Rookie Elijah Moore was New York’s leading receiver with 538 yards in 2021, despite playing only 11 games.

Though Moore would flirt with 800-plus yards if he maintains that pace over a full season, the quality of his competition for targets is also expected to increase. The Jets drafted Garrett Wilson No. 10 overall this past spring, signaling the team’s belief that the offense still needed an alpha-dog wideout.

Moore is wildly talented, but his second-round draft capital lags behind the investment in Wilson. He can still produce for the Jets, but this yardage prop feels inflated for a receiver in a mid-range passing offense that will spread the ball around too much.
