Monday Night Football Kupp vs. Samuel Player Props Picks

With two of the best receivers in the NFL going head to head in the Monday Night Football matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, this is a perfect opportunity to look at various player props involving Cooper Kupp and Deebo Samuel.

Not only is this a matchup between division rivals, but it’s also a rematch of last season's NFC Championship Game and the fourth time the Rams and 49ers will square off in under a year. 

As a result, we have three recent data points to analyze the matchup between Kupp and Samuel.

Monday Night Football Kupp vs. Samuel Prop Predictions

Kupp more rushing + receiving yards (-115) ★★★★

The 49ers haven’t had an answer for Kupp, as the All-Pro wideout totaled 32 receptions for 382 yards and three touchdowns across three meetings with San Fran last season. Additionally, Kupp has a league-high 34.3% target share to start the 2022 campaign.

San Francisco wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been consistently involved in the passing attack to start the year, and tight end George Kittle should see an uptick in targets after garnering just four looks last week.

Sportsbooks are also projecting this to be a low-scoring affair with an Over/Under total of 42.5, which would result in a slower pace and a downtick in offensive plays if that comes to fruition. I don't foresee enough targets and touches for Samuel to keep pace with Kupp.

Kupp + Samuel Over 250.5 rushing and receiving yards (+180) ★★

With Kupp and Samuel combining to go Over 250 scrimmage yards in two of three games between the Rams and 49ers last season, this is an intriguing total.

There’s also incredible entertainment value here. You’re backing two of the league’s most dynamic talents, and one of them will be on the field for nearly every play of the game.

Though this would strictly be a recreational wager for me, there’s potential for this feeling like two heavyweight fighters going blow for blow right to the bell.

Samuel most rushing yards (+1100 via FanDuel) ★

Both the 49ers and Rams have stout run defenses with respective rankings of first and second in rush defense DVOA per Football Outsiders, and eighth and first, respectively, in rush EPA.

As a result, there might not be a lot of success on the ground for either offense. Add the potential for Los Angeles to return to a backfield-committee approach, and Samuel might not need a lofty rushing-yards total to cash this ticket.

San Francisco running back Jeff Wilson Jr. has rushed for 159 yards (5.3 per carry) as the starter the past two weeks, but if he’s held in check early by the Rams, Samuel could be leaned on more in the rushing attack as the game progresses.
