The Monday Night Football matchup between the Cowboys and Eagles has lost some of its shine due to injuries and with both teams being 2-4, but my Cowboys vs. Eagles prediction expects no love lost between these NFC East rivals and a hard-fought defensive struggle in spite of Dallas’ defensive struggles.

Kickoff from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia is set for 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN, ABC, Disney+), and the Cowboys are a 3.5-point betting favorite.

Cowboys vs. Eagles prediction & best bet

Under 44.5 (-110 via DraftKings)

Philadelphia is amid a four-game losing streak, its longest under head coach Nick Sirianni. That is due in large part to a struggling offense that has totaled 250 or fewer yards in every game during the losing streak.

Green Bay’s defense last week gave Philadelphia a blueprint for how to defend Dallas, specifically its passing game, after forcing the Cowboys into their first shutout in the first half since 2021 Week 9. Dak Prescott averaged 4.8 yards per attempt in the loss, his lowest since 2023 Week 15 at the Bills (3.9 YPA), and his 3-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio since Week 4 is tied for 26th among quarterbacks.

Saquon Barkley returns from a two-game absence (hamstring) to try and rejuvenate Philadelphia’s rushing attack. But the Eagles have been held to 35 or fewer rushing yards in consecutive games for the first time since 2005, and it will be difficult to create enough running lanes with three original starting linemen injured or missing.

📡 SBR Edge: Lack of explosive plays

Philadelphia is tied for last in the NFL in both runs of 10-plus yards (9) and catches of 20-plus yards (9).

Dallas can take away Philadelphia's biggest passing threat

It was a surprise to many that the Eagles coaching staff let backup quarterback Tanner McKee throw 45 times last week, while many surmise that similar volume would be wise against a Cowboys defense that has allowed six yards per play and a 54.7% opposing third-down conversion percentage.

McKee clearly leaned on wide receiver DeVonta Smith last week, peppering him with 14 targets. And while Dallas allows the fourth-highest yards per attempt and a 69% completion percentage (third-worst), Smith could see shadow coverage from newly acquired cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Porter has not allowed a reception since joining the Cowboys, and faced only four targets while rotating between Green Bay’s lethal duo of Christian Watson and Matthew Golden. Philadelphia doesn’t have a receiver on the opposite side to warrant taking away Smith, so Porter should help eat into the wide receiver’s 2.21 yards per route run with McKee under center.

Play to: Under 44 (-110)

Score prediction: Cowboys 23, Eagles 17
