- Canada -6 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐
- Bridget Carleton Over 12.5 points (-115) ⭐⭐⭐
Prediction: Canada -6 ⭐⭐⭐
No team has been more disappointing in this tournament than Canada, which features four current WNBA players but is yet to pick up a win in the group stage.
There's a reason the Canadians are favored in this matchup, though, and I'm inclined to trust the talent on the floor for Sunday's favorites in this one-game sample. Bridget Carleton (13.5 PPG) has stepped up for her country, even as the rest of her teammates struggle to find their rhythm from the floor.
Nigeria shocked Australia in its opener, but it was blasted by France on Thursday and lacks the premier talent (on paper) in this matchup. I'm willing to bet that matters on Sunday in what should be Canada's first win.
A winning $10 bet will pay a profit of $9.09.
Odds: -110 | Implied probability: 52.38%
Prediction: Bridget Carleton Over 12.5 points ⭐⭐⭐
It feels like Carleton was the only Canadian who came to play in Paris, as she leads her team in scoring (13.5 PPG) and rebounding (8 RPG) while ranking third in assists (2.5 APG).
She's also been her team's most efficient shooter overall (50%) and second-best from deep (53.8%), and she's playing a team-high 34.5 minutes per game. That spells plenty of opportunity for her to carry the torch once again.
Carleton struggled against France's elite defense (eight points) but responded with a 19-point effort in Thursday's loss to Australia. I'd expect an effort closer to the latter against a so-so Nigerian defense.
A winning $10 bet will yield an $8.70 profit.
Odds: -115 | Implied probability: 53.49%
