The Atlanta Hawks visit the New York Knicks on Wednesday in a Eastern Conference clash. Read on for our Knicks-Hawks picks and predictions.

The New York Knicks have fallen two games under .500, but that isn’t an indictment on how they’ve played lately. They’re fresh off an encouraging win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and have been giving some of the best teams in the league a good test of late.

Atlanta enters here just 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 games, though it has picked up two wins in its last three tries. The Hawks’ previous game wasn’t so great, however, considering they were 6-point favorites and lost outright to the Thunder.

Here is our best Hawks vs. Knicks NBA pick (odds via PointsBet; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Hawks vs. Knicks Odds Analysis

The opening line here was New York -2, and so far there hasn’t been enough for any of the main books to really move the line all that much. You can still find the 2-point spread over on FanDuel and Caesars while the likes of DraftKings and BetMGM have moved the number to 1.5. This might be because 54% of the spread tickets and 56% of the handle are on the Knicks.

As it pertains to the total, 66% of the bets and 57% of the money are on the Under at DraftKings. We’ve again seen pretty limited movement here, with the opening number of 231.5 still available at some shops. The books which have moved the number have done so in the Over’s favor, however.

Hawks vs. Knicks Pick

Knicks -1.5 ★★★★

I won’t spend too much time discussing the form, but I will simply point out that the Knicks’ recent losing run is quite deceiving. They’ve lost to Portland, Memphis and Milwaukee in recent weeks and kept the deficit to six or fewer points in all three outings. The big win over Cleveland felt more like it was a long time coming instead of a fluke.

New York is sixth in rebounding rate in the past six games and has done an excellent job of playing defense over that span, ranking 10th in the NBA during that time with a 111.8 efficiency rating. This is a huge contrast to what we saw in the games prior, where the Knicks really struggled to stop opponents. Best of all, it has come against excellent offenses.

In that same timeframe, Atlanta is 18th in offensive rating and for the season is just 16th on the glass. John Collins remains out, and I think this Hawks frontcourt will be in big trouble without him. New York has been bullying other teams on the glass and is clearly the right side here with a much-improved defense.

PointsBet continues to offer slightly reduced vig on its lines, and here they’re offering us what I see as a decent deal on the Knicks. The common market price of -110 on the 1.5 points is slightly less appealing, but overall this is a pretty good number when you consider other shops are requiring you to lay a 2-point spread with the home team.

Still, the discrepancy here isn’t really as vast as it is with the total. You will find a wide variety of numbers depending on where you look.
