Wimbledon Prediction 2026: Jannik Sinner vs. Novak Djokovic Semifinal Best Bets

The matchup that the tennis world was hoping to see came to fruition as defending Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner faces 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic for the right to play in the Men's final on Sunday.  My Wimbledon prediction for the Sinner vs. Djokovic semifinal backs the Italian with the 39-year-old Serbian player coming off a marathon quarterfinal matchup.   

Sinner is as high as a -500 betting favorite, and would surely be favored over either of the other two semifinalists if he were to reach the final.

Here's my pick to win the Wimbledon men's semifinal, and why I'm choosing Sinner:

Jannik Sinner ML (-416)

I do not actually agree that Sinner should be this much of a favorite over Djokovic, as his -416 moneyline odds carry an 80.62% implied probability. But while Djokovic leads the head-to-head 2-1 through their three Wimbledon matchups, he has also only beaten Sinner once in the last six matchups overall, with three of those victories by the Italian coming in straight sets.

At 39 years old, it will be difficult for Djokovic to recover from a five hour and 15 minute marathon he endured in his quarterfinal win over Felix Auger-Aliassime, the longest match in Wimbledon quarterfinal history. Sinner has already won 27 consecutive ATP main draw matches against older opponents, and is one of two players with a career winning record against Djokovic.

Djokovic to win Over 16.5 games (-110)

Even though Sinner has served 97 aces so far in this tournament, a career-high at a Major event, even he would be the first one to admit his overall play to this point could use improvement. And in Djokovic we're also talking about the best returner of serve in the history of the sport. He created 13 break point chances against Auger-Aliassime when the Canadian entered their match having won 69 of 70 service games to that point in the tournament.

Djokovic has reached the semifinals of Wimbledon eight straight times, and holds a 107-13 record at the storied event. One should also not underestimate his 45 career top-5 wins at Grand Slams.

There are several trends which should help Djokovic win at least 17 games over the course of the match. Sinner hasn't covered the game spread in 11 consecutive ATP main draw matches, while the Over on total number of games is 11-1 in Djokovic's last 12 matches.
