Carlos Alcaraz overturned an early deficit to advance to his sixth semifinal in the last seven Grand Slams, returning to the top of the Wimbledon odds as the favorite just ahead of Novak Djokovic.

On the women's side, Barbora Krejčíková upended and upset previous favorite Elena Rybakina in an exquisite three-set semifinal. The other semifinal saw the in-form player on the tour, Jasmine Paolini, defeat Donna Vekic in the longest women's semifinal at the All England Club.

Krejčíková, who won the French Open in 2021, is the consensus favorite to win her second major across our best sports betting sites despite her early-season injury woes.

First-time semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti has the opportunity of a lifetime as he prepares to face Djokovic, appearing in his record-tying 13th Wimbledon semifinal. Daniil Medvedev and favorite Alcaraz will meet in Friday's other semifinal.

2024 Wimbledon favorites

Carlos Alcaraz (+110)

Alcaraz's trajectory mirrored what most analysts had predicted when he arrived on the scene a few years ago. The prodigy possesses the potential to be as good as the top players in the game, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Djokovic.

Alcaraz has won three of his previous six majors, securing his first Grand Slam trophy at Flushing Meadows in 2022. He followed that up with an unforgettable triumph during his first Wimbledon success in 2023, and he prevailed at Roland-Garros to capture the 2024 French Open.

On Tuesday, Alcaraz ousted Tommy Paul in four sets, qualifying for his sixth semifinal in the last seven Grand Slams. The clear favorite entering his semifinal against Daniil Medvedev, Alcaraz has beaten the Russian in four of six head-to-heads, including four of the last five.

Alcaraz also defeated Medvedev in the 2023 Wimbledon semifinal in straight sets, and the market likes his chances to advance again on Friday. You can read our Medvedev vs. Alcaraz predictions and odds before placing your preferred wagers.

Novak Djokovic (+125)

Djokovic has won four of the last five Wimbledon titles. He enjoyed a run of 34 straight victories at the All England Club and 45 on center court before Alcaraz beat him in the 2023 final. Bet against this otherworldly star at your peril. He is exquisite at Wimbledon, with his skill set leading to wiping the floor with most competitors.

He is the best serve defender in the world (especially on the lawn), possesses superb agility, and seemingly doesn't fatigue, even at 36. Djokovic will be even more motivated knowing he's just one Wimbledon title short of tying Federer's record of eight.

The Djoker dominated No. 15 seed Holger Rune and won the Round of 16 match in straight sets. The world No. 2 labored a bit at one point, favoring his abdomen.

However, all signs are good regarding the knee which underwent surgery about seven weeks ago - an ominous sign for the rest of the field.

Djokovic faces first-time semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti on Friday as a favorite bigger than the iceberg that led to the Titanic's demise. Djokovic has won five of six previous encounters against the 25th-seeded Italian. Friday's tilt is their first on grass.

2024 women's finalists

Barbora Krejčíková (-140)

Krejcikova had endured a miserable season before Wimbledon commenced, struggling mightily with a back injury that kept her out for most of the season. She's 13-9 on the year, dwarfed by Paolini's stunningly good 30-12.

Her injury woes make her performance at Wimbledon even more impressive, particularly her triumph over heavy favorite Elena Rybakina in the semifinal. Krejcikova can expect an entirely different style of match in the final, with Paolini preferring to extend points as long as possible.

Krejcikova must go for winners early and prevent long rallies to have the best chance of winning her second major. Her first and only Grand Slam title came at the French Open in 2021.

Jasmine Paolini (+130)

Paolini is enjoying quite the breakout season. Before 2024, she hadn't made it past the second round in 16 Grand Slam appearances. Yet here she is, advancing to her second straight major semifinal following a runners-up performance at the French Open.

She started the year with a berth in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Paolini became the first player on the women's side to make the French Open and Wimbledon final since Serena Williams in 2016. Talk about elite company.

Paolini is the clear underdog entering the final against Krejčíková. However, Paolini is the in-form player on tour and has more energy than a combustion of fossil fuels. The finalists have met only once previously, which Krejčíková won.

How to bet on tennis

Betting on tennis involves predicting the outcomes of various aspects of a match or tournament. Let's explore some popular betting markets along with examples of odds:

  • Match winner: In this market, you bet on which player will win the match. For example, if Novak Djokovic is playing against Rafael Nadal and Djokovic has odds of -150 to win, it means you would need to bet $15 to win $10 if he wins. Conversely, if Nadal has odds of +200, a $10 bet on him would yield a profit of $20 if he wins.
  • Set betting: This market involves predicting the correct scoreline of sets in a match. For instance, if you believe Djokovic will win 3-1 against Nadal, and the odds for that outcome are +300, a $10 bet would result in a $30 profit if your prediction is correct.
  • Over/Under total games: Here, you wager on whether the total number of games played in a match will be Over or Under a set number determined by the sportsbook. If the line is set at 38.5 games and you bet the Over with odds of -110, you would need the match to have 39 or more games to win. Conversely, if you bet the Under with odds of +120, a $10 bet would return $12 in profit if the match has 38 or fewer games.

These are just a few examples of tennis betting markets, but there are many more available, each offering unique opportunities for bettors to capitalize on their knowledge of the sport. As always, it's essential to research players, consider factors like playing surface and recent form, and stay informed about tournament developments to make informed betting decisions.
