It will be a pro-Arthur Fery crowd as the London faithful look to spur their countryman on and keep his fairy tale run alive as he faces No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev. My Wimbledon prediction for the Fery vs. Zverev semifinal acknowledges that grass has never been the German's best surface, but I still expect him to take the crowd out of the match en route to a spot in the final.

Zverev is as high as a -500 betting favorite.

Along with my outright Zverev prediction, I make the case for him to win in straight sets for more value from a prop perspective.

🆚 Arthur Fery vs. Alexander Zverev pick to win

Here's my pick to win the Wimbledon men's semifinal, and why I'm choosing Zverev:

Alexander Zverev ML (-423)

Zverev is a rightful favorite in this matchup despite the crowd support being overwhelmingly against him. Fery's only career top-10 victory came in the quarterfinal matchup against Flavio Cobolli, but he could draw on the confidence of having beaten the Italian before when he was lower-ranked. There is no such experience like that in this matchup, with it being the first time these two opponents have played.

Fery is just the third player to start a Wimbledon event ranked outside the ATP top 100 and reach a semifinal. He is also the fourth Men's Wild Card even to reach a Major semifinal. Yes, there is precedent for such a player going on to win a Major (Goran Ivanesivic won Wimbledon as a Wild Card in 2001). But the way in which Zverev blew Taylor Fritz, an opponent who had given him massive troubles recently, off the court in less than two hours, shouldn't go unnoticed.

Zverev is a perfect 16-0 as a favorite in Majors in 2026, and he is not in danger of being upset in this match.

🔥 Best Arthur Fery vs. Alexander Zverev prop pick

Zverev to win in straight sets (3-0) (+110)

With how easily Zverev beat Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the quarterfinal, it is easy to forget that the German was the underdog entering the matchup. Fritz entered the match with seven straight head-to-head victories. One of those was in the Round of 16 at Wimbledon and at two others grass-court events, so I expect Zverev to draw on that confidence knowing that he slayed a demon of sorts In his last victory.

Fery will be ranked no lower than No. 36 with a loss in the semifinals, but it would be foolish to ignore his No. 114 ranking entering the tournament. Moreso, he had limited Wimbledon experience coming in, losing to Daniil Medvedev in the first round in 2023 and only winning his first match at a Major in the first round last year.

This wager could boil down to simply who wins the first set. If Zverev takes it, that hushes the pro-Fery crowd, and inches him closer to the trend that he is 81-3 in Majors when winning the first two sets.

Zverev has long odds to overcome in winning the whole tournament, as the last man to win his first two Majors consecutively was John Newcombe in 1967. But that's more of an issue for when he faces the Sinner-Djokovic winner, and I would expect Zverev to put his foot on the gas and aim to get out with a short straight-set victory after having played three times in three days earlier this week.
