After correctly fading Shane Van Gisbergen at Naval Base Coronado - and correctly backing him at Sonoma - we're back to ovals this weekend. Let's dive into my NASCAR predictions at Chicagoland as the Cup Series returns to the venue for the first time since 2019.
The 2026 Eero 400 is scheduled for Sunday, July 5 at 6 p.m. ET (TNT/truTV/HBO Max). Despite his team's hauler having an accident on the way to the track, Denny Hamlin is the favorite to win this weekend at +275 on BetMGM.

💡 How to bet NASCAR at Chicagoland
We haven't seen the Cup Series at Chicagoland since 2019, but even then, the track's rough surface was known for generating tire wear. With seven years of weather to wear it out even further, it's safe to expect tire management to be a major issue this weekend.
The Cup Series has a few intermediates with similar levels of tire wear on the schedule, like Homestead and Darlington. Kansas' once-smooth surface has now aged enough to render it a somewhat useful comparator, too.
🏆 Best bet to win the Eero 400
Tyler Reddick, 23XI Racing (No. 45)
- Tyler Reddick to win: +550 via Caesars (1.25u)
- Tyler Reddick to win the pole: +550 via Caesars (1u)
We don't know what to expect at Chicagoland this weekend, but if this weekend's race is anything like what we saw earlier at Darlington or Kansas, Tyler Reddick is a sharp bet at +550 to win. Reddick won both of the other events from the pole. He ranked first by average green-flag speed at Darlington and second at Kansas.
Someone from the Toyota camp will probably win this weekend - the manufacturer is -150 (60%) at DraftKings despite entering fewer cars than Ford or Chevrolet. Reddick and Hamlin have consistently been the class of the field for Toyota, and while the pilot of the No. 11 has had the momentum recently, I trust Reddick to bounce back in a big way this weekend.
📡 SBR Edge
Reddick's early-season dominance on intermediates with high tire wear is the best data point to use for this weekend's event, but this year isn't an outlier - Reddick's average finish at Homestead since 2022 (4) and for his career (8.8) are the best among all active drivers. If this venue races like Homestead, expect the No. 45 to be up front.
🔥 More NASCAR picks & prop bets
For as much as I like Reddick, it's important to flag that the driver who led the most laps in the most recent five Chicagoland races failed to actually win. As a result, you'll want a few longer-shot drivers on your card. Furthermore, the Chase is just around the corner, and a few drivers in need of points stand out as sharp bets on the top 10 market.
Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing (No. 19)
- Chase Briscoe to win: +1400 via FanDuel (0.25u)
- Chase Briscoe top 10: -140 at bet365 (2.1u)
While Hamlin, Reddick, and Bell stand out as the top drivers from the Toyota camp, Chase Briscoe is a sharp play at +1400 on FanDuel, too. Briscoe was ninth by average green-flag speed at Darlington and finished 12th. He was 11th at Kansas and finished third. Those are solid results, and with the No. 19 team needing points to stay in the Chase, he isn't a bad bet to score a top 10 at -140.
Importantly, if Chicagoland races like Darlington this weekend, Briscoe is fantastically positioned. He has the seventh-best average finish there since 2022 (11.3) with two wins in his last four starts.
Chris Buescher, RFK Racing (No. 17)
- Chris Buescher top 10: -110 via DraftKings (1.65u)
Buescher and the RFK Racing program have put together solid results on intermediates with high tire wear. Buescher ranked fourth by average green-flag speed at Darlington and finished ninth. He ranked eighth at Kansas and finished 10th, too. With the No. 17 team leaning on consistency to get into the Chase, I expect another solid day from them here - not enough to win, but enough to score a top 10.
Ryan Preece, RFK Racing (No. 60)
- Ryan Preece to win: +10000 via BetMGM (0.08u)
- Ryan Preece top 10: +450 via DraftKings (0.67u)
Preece, Buescher's teammate at RFK Racing, is seriously undervalued here. Aside from Buescher's solid runs at similar tracks, both Preece and Keselowski have been solid, adding three top 10s by average green-flag speed and two actual top 10s over the two-race sample of comparators. Preece finds himself right at the Chase cut line and needs as many points as he can get, and we're getting him at odds that are far too good to pass up.
