Lions vs. Elks Prediction, Expert Picks & Odds: CFL Football, Aug. 11
Coming of their worst loss of the season, the BC Lions (5-3) desperately need to rebound against the lowly Edmonton Elks (1-7).
However, as we detail in our Lions vs. Elks prediction, BC will have to do it without star QB Vernon Adams Jr., the preseason CFL Most Outstanding Player odds favorite.
Down Adams, the Lions remain the West's top Grey Cup odds contender, but are a 2.5-point underdog across our best sportsbooks in Canada for Sunday's game at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, set for a 7 p.m. ET start (TSN/RDS, CFL+).

Lions +2.5 ⭐⭐⭐
These are two teams who had completely different performances in Week 9. While the Lions fell 25-0 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers - and lost Adams to injury - the Elks finally won a game.
For as strong as Edmonton looked on the road in its 42-31 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, I have a hard time trusting this team to win two in a row, especially with the volatility of QB Tre Ford. I just don't think he's going to be able to score enough points to cover against a Lions defense that allows 24.4 PPG, fourth-fewest in the league.
Even with Adams out, BC should still be capable of putting up enough points to cover. Backup QB Jake Dolegala is experienced with 10 CFL starts and 2,822 passing yards. He's also got the benefit of playing with the best offensive skill group in the league.
Coming into Week 10, wide receivers Justin McInnis (780 yards) and Alexander Hollins (706 yards) ranked first and third in the CFL in receiving yards, respectively. Meanwhile, running back William Stanback is fourth in the CFL in rushing (431) and All-Star receiver Keon Hatcher is healthy again.
Those four have helped BC put up the second-most yards per game (390.1) and should allow the Lions to capitalize against the worst defense in the league. The Elks allow the most yards (409.1) and passing yards per game (309.8), and the second-most points per game (30.9).
A $10 winning bet on the Lions pays a $9.52 profit.
