Winnipeg is coming off a Week 6 bye, which means the Blue Bombers have had two weeks to stew over a stunning 37-16 loss at Calgary - stunning because the 2019 and 2021 Grey Cup champs started the season 3-0 and closed as a 5.5-point road favorite against the Stampeders.

So look for an inspired effort from Winnipeg, which won its first two home games against BC and Edmonton by a combined 27 points. History also favors the Blue Bombers, who are 12-5 against Calgary dating to the 2018 season - including eight consecutive wins at home.

Calgary and Winnipeg combined for nearly 750 total yards when they squared off back in Week 5 - and that doesn’t include the 100 yards that the Stampeders picked up on a pair of interceptions returned for touchdowns. The two pick-sixes not only played a huge part in Calgary’s 37-16 victory, but they pushed the game Over the 51.5-point closing total.

Obviously, it’s nearly impossible to forecast turnovers. Likewise, it would be foolish to count on one (let alone two) defensive scores in this quick-turnaround rematch. But even if neither defense finds the end zone, both should surrender enough points to get this game beyond the 50-point mark.

After all, Winnipeg and Calgary respectively rank second and fourth in the nine-team CFL in total offense, and both teams average four touchdowns per contest. Take out a 20-12 home loss to Ottawa in Week 3, and the Stampeders’ per-game scoring average jumps to 29.5 points.

Meanwhile, prior to its trip to Calgary on July 3, Winnipeg had tallied at least 24 points in seven straight games dating to last season. That includes an average of 32.3 points during a 3-0 start to the 2025 campaign.

Granted, the Stampeders’ defense has been stout, holding four consecutive opponents to 20 points or fewer since a season-opening 38-26 win over Hamilton. But that defense has been shaky against the pass, allowing 287.2 yards per game (third-most in the league).

With an extra week to prep for this one - which means an extra week to study film from the Week 5 debacle - we’re betting that Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros redeems himself in front of the home crowd and leads the Blue Bombers to an entertaining 33-28 victory.

💪 Dedrick Mills to score anytime TD ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

📊 Best odds: +140 via FanDuel ($10 pays $14)

Calgary running back Dedrick Mills not only leads the CFL in rushing touchdowns, but he’s already established a career high with five ground scores. In fact, Mills is just two TDs away from matching the combined total from his first three CFL campaigns. Mills has hit pay dirt in three of the Stampeders’ five games, the most recent being a 2-yard plunge in Week 5 … against Winnipeg.
