🏁 Early pick to win British Grand Prix
George Russell (+250) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Russell won the Austrian GP, his first victory since the opening race Down Under. The Brit appears to be back at his best, and he didn't have to deal with any car issues at the Red Bull Ring, strengthening his race weekend.
With a second-place finish in the previous race in Barcelona, Russell has his confidence back.
While his best finish at the British GP was an underwhelming fifth place in 2023, Silverstone is the fourth-fastest track on the grid. That should bode well for Russell and his best-in-class W17.
💰 Early picks & best bets for British Grand Prix
Here's a look at the best alternatives on the board looking ahead to Sunday's race:
Kimi Antonelli (+175)
An error in qualifying prevented Antonelli from securing pole position entering the Austrian Grand Prix. Having mistaken the single yellow flags for double, Antonelli backed out of his final qualifying lap. Finishing qualifying in fourth cost him the race, as he had too much ground to make up.
Antonelli finished third behind Verstappen and Russell. However, the teenager is a constant threat to win, and he's taken the checkered flag in five of eight races. He's been on the podium in seven of eight races, with the only exception due to a power failure in Barcelona.
Lewis Hamilton (+500)
Lewis Hamilton finished the Austrian GP in a disappointing fifth place after securing third in qualifying. He remonstrated with the team about their tire strategy and was left wanting in the end.
While the latest upgrades didn't have as much of an impact as I predicted, Hamilton is still one of the most in-form drivers on the circuit, finishing second twice and first in the previous three races.
He won four of the previous seven races at Silverstone, and usually saves his best for his home GP. Hamilton's high-performing car should help his chances.
Max Verstappen (+500)
While Verstappen isn't back to his best, he's inching ever closer. Red Bull's upgrades before the Austrian GP certainly had the desired effect, as Verstappen finished in second place and pushed Russell to the brink.
That second-place finish came despite a fifth-place qualifying result. It was Verstappen's best finish of the season, which came on the back of a fourth-place finish in Barcelona, his second-best result.
It looks like Red Bull is finally catching up to Mercedes and Ferrari, an ominous proposition for the rest of the field.
