With every game amplified down the stretch, an interleague battle between two postseason hopefuls looms large. Here are our Guardians-Padres same-game parlay picks for Tuesday.

Cleveland holds down a slim two-game lead in the AL Central while San Diego clings to a wild card spot in the NL. Which side will improve their positioning for the playoffs with a win on Tuesday?

Here are my same-game parlay picks for Tuesday’s matchup between the Guardians and Padres (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Same-Game Parlay Predictions for Guardians vs. Padres

Guardians +1.5 (-172) ★★★★★

Aaron Civale is somewhat of a risky pitcher to back given his poor 5.63 ERA and troubles with injuries this season, but he looked sharp in his last outing. Civale allowed just three hits and one run to the Tigers while striking out 10 batters across six innings on Aug. 15.

Josh Bell is the only Padre he’s faced in his prior MLB endeavors, so I like Civale to take advantage of hitters unfamiliar with his stuff. Mike Clevinger hasn’t been as strong on the bump of late, walking eight batters in 9 2/3 innings across his past two starts.

Cleveland is 18-22 outright this season as an away underdog and has covered on the Run Line 26 times out of 40 opportunities as the underdog on the road. That 65% cover rate is tied for eighth-best in MLB this season.

Clevinger Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-126) ★★★★

There’s familiarity for Clevinger with this Cleveland lineup, as he pitched for the Guardians from 2016 up until a mid-season trade sent him to San Diego in 2020. But Clevinger hasn’t been thriving in the strikeouts department recently, failing to eclipse three Ks in any of his last three starts. He’s only struck out seven batters in total during that span.

The Guardians have a team OPS of .724 against righties which is nearly 100 points higher than against lefties and they have the lowest per-game strikeout rate in MLB this season at just 6.91 Ks per game. Cleveland batters have struck out in only 17.5% of their at-bats against right-handed pitching this year, compared to 20.6% against lefties. Though he might be amped to face his former team, Clevinger hasn’t shown much swing-and-miss stuff lately.

DraftKings doesn’t offer the Under on pitcher strikeout totals, so we’re looking at FanDuel for the same-game parlay.

Gimenez To Record An RBI (+190) ★★★

Andres Gimenez is not a particularly splitty hitter, but his .886 OPS against right-handed pitching this year is still an advantage against Clevinger over his .805 OPS against lefties. His recent knack for driving in runs gives us the confidence to chase this prop at an inflated odds mark.

Gimenez has logged three multi-hit games and seven RBIs since August 15, taking advantage of batting in the fifth spot in the lineup behind strong on-base men Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor.
