Last week we swept the board with two underdogs that won outright and a favorite that covered the number. When the dust settled, West Virginia, Utah State, and Oklahoma State all brought home the cash and this week will be more of the same as we keep cashing our college football picks!

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Texas Longhorns

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 12:00 PM EDT at Texas Memorial Stadium

Texas Tech enters this Big 12 showdown with a 3-0 record (2-1 ATS) and hot off the heels of a 54-21 thrashing of Rice as 26-point favorites. The Red Raiders have revealed an offense capable of scoring through the air or on the ground and junior quarterback, Tyler Shough, torched the Florida International secondary last week for 399 yards and four touchdowns.

The Longhorns rebounded from a 40-21 upset loss to Arkansas to crush Rice last week to the tune of a 58-0 waxing. Texas was installed as 26-point home chalk and their rushing attack was relentless, racking up an absurd 427 yards while quarterback, Casey Thompson, was a surgical 15-of-18 for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns strikes.

Texas has won the last three games against their perennial foes but Texas Tech easily covered the 17 ½ point impost when they bowed, 63-56 in overtime, last year. We see the line on this game opened at Texas -9 but that number has dropped to 7 ½ over at Intertops. I grant you that 7 ½ is not a pretty number but if the Horns win by eight, it’ll look like Mila Kunis in a sheer negligee. Lay it and like it.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Michigan Wolverines

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 03:30 PM EDT at Michigan Stadium

There is no question that the No. 19 ranked Wolverines have stomped every team they have lined up against this season. However, their opponents have been far from elite as evidenced by the following tomato cans that have pumped up Big Blue’s record: Western Michigan, Washington, and Northern Illinois.

On the other side, the perennial Big 10 whipping boy, Rutgers, is undefeated thus far and is also 3-0 against the spread. The Scarlet Knights have convincing wins over Temple, Syracuse, and Delaware. Okay, so we are not talking ranked teams here but the Knights have looked impressive thus far.

So now Rutgers will be traveling to the Big House and the college football odds at all of the best online sportsbooks opened with the Wolverines as 20-point favorites. That alone seems like an awful lot of points to give an undefeated team from a Power 5 conference but that number has not dissuaded the masses, who have continued to pound the favorite to where it now stands at -21.

Now we are getting a full three touchdowns with the Scarlet Knights and that smacks of value to me. Let’s grab the big road hound and cash a ticket.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Oklahoma Sooners

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 07:30 PM EDT at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

The Sooners are ranked second in the nation as they welcome the Mountaineers to Norman and have had their share of mercurial performances thus far this season. Although Oklahoma is a perfect 3-0, they have not been nearly as good at the betting windows, failing to cover in two of their three contests.

What was supposed to be a walk in the park against Tulane turned into a 40-35 struggle but the following week they trounced FCS entry, Western Carolina, by the score of 76-0. Yet, last week was much like their opening game as they scuffled with Nebraska but emerged as 23-16 winners but failed to cash as 22 ½ point home chalk.

And here they are, ready to entertain West Virginia after the Mountaineers defeated No. 15 Virginia Tech, 27-21, last week as 1 ½ point favorites and are now 2-1 straight up and against the number. The opening line saw the Sooners as 16-point home chalk but we now see that point spread sitting a full point higher and, on a number, 17, that can be critical.

For my NCAAF pick, I like West Virginia’s defense and am quite sure they can hang with the overrated Sooners in this one.
