Over 90% of all public ATS bets are backing the Utes to dominate on the road in Arizona State’s first game since firing Herm Edwards. Let's examine the matchup in our Utah-Arizona State picks.

There’s no better way to wrap up a full Saturday of college football than with a little Pac-12 action after dark. The Week 4 slate provides just that in the form of a clash between the Utah Utes and Arizona State Sun Devils.

After losing in heartbreaking fashion to Florida to begin the season, Utah (2-1 ATS, 2-1 O/U) has looked dominant in each of its two games since. Now the Utes will try to get their first Pac-12 win of the season over an Arizona State (1-2 ATS, 0-3 O/U) team that fired head coach Herm Edwards after a bad home loss to Eastern Michigan in Week 3.

Here are our top picks for the Week 4 matchup between Utah and Arizona State (odds via PointsBet and DraftKings Sportsbook; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale)

Utah vs. Arizona State ATS Pick

Utah -15.5 (-107) ★★★★

Those who were ready to write Utah off after the Week 1 loss in The Swamp are in for a rude awakening as the Pac-12 Conference schedule begins. The Utes are still one of the most talented teams in the conference, and easily the most physical.

Utah also holds a massive experience advantage heading into Saturday’s matchup. A big knock on Edwards prior to his dismissal was the max exodus of transfers who left Tempe over the offseason. While the Utes did lose a couple of key contributors on either side of the ball, the vast majority of players responsible for the school's 2021 production are back.

It’s very hard to envision an ASU defense that allowed over 450 total yards to Eastern Michigan last week slowing down the Utes’ attack. The Sun Devils aren't built to play from behind, and they'll struggle to generate much offense against Utah’s stout run defense.

Utah vs. Arizona State O/U Pick

Under 54 (-107) ★★

How much is Arizona State even capable of scoring in this matchup?

Utah's defense is the toughest ASU has faced so far in 2022. Yes, even tougher than an Oklahoma State unit that experienced drastic turnover in the offseason and still held the Sun Devils to just 17 points.

Speaking of turnover, Arizona State sure knows a thing or two about that. Florida transfer Emory Jones isn’t exactly a prolific passing quarterback. While Wyoming transfer Xazavian Valladay was a nice pickup, running against Utah’s defensive front is much easier said than done. That's especially true given that the Utes can stack the box and dare Jones to beat them down the field.

On the other side of the ball, the Sun Devils’ defense will likely be overmatched. However, the advantage of being at home could help the unit slow down Utah’s offense somewhat.

Utah vs. Arizona State Prop Pick

Emory Jones Under 192.5 passing yards (-115) ★★★

Arizona State’s offense isn't built to perform when trailing significantly. Not only is Jones an inconsistent passer, but the Sun Devils lack much in the way of aerial weapons. Each of the team’s top four receivers from last year departed in the offseason.

Through three games, Jones has only surpassed this passing yardage prop of once. That effort came against Oklahoma State, a game in which 73 of his 223 total yards through the air came on a single completion. With standout safety Cole Bishop anchoring Utah's secondary, Jones will be hard-pressed to connect on a similar big play during this matchup.
