The NC State Wolfpack play a rare Big 12 opponent when the Texas Tech Red Raiders come to Raleigh this week. We're breaking down the betting angles with our Texas Tech-NC State picks.

NC State is one of eight AP Top 25 teams facing an undefeated opponent this week but is one of just three facing an opponent from a Power 5 conference.

Here are our top picks for Texas Tech-NC State in Week 3 (odds via PointsBet, BetMGM, and DraftKings Sportsbook).

Texas Tech vs. NC State ATS Pick

NC State -10 (-110) ★

Texas Tech is looking for its second straight upset of a top-25 team as it beat the Houston Cougars 33-30 in an overtime thriller last week. However, the Red Raiders also have another in-state rivalry game with No. 21 Texas looming, putting them in a precarious spot this week.

NC State QB Devin Leary rebounded from a poor second half against East Carolina to account for six touchdowns against Charleston Southern last week. Wolfpack running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye averaged 10.0 yards per carry. NC State is also the more cohesive team with much more returning experience than Joey McGuire has in his first year on the job with Texas Tech.

Texas Tech vs. NC State O/U Pick

Over 53.5 (-110) ★★★★

The quarterback battle between Leary and Donovan Smith is one of the more intriguing matchups in Week 3 and should lead to plenty of points. Leary threw for 3,433 yards and a school-record 35 touchdowns last year. His 7:1 TD:INT ratio was the best in the ACC since 2018 and third-best among returning Power 5 quarterbacks. Meanwhile, Smith threw for 350 yards, rushed for 86 more (before accounting for sacks), and made a case he should remain the starter when Tyler Shough returns from injury.

BetMGM is the place to make this wager, as all other major sportsbooks are offering totals of 54 or 54.5.

Texas Tech vs. NC State Prop Pick

NC State to win by 13-18 (+370) ★

Smith threw three interceptions last week, and nothing will come easy on the road in a hostile environment. History is against the Wolfpack, as it has won just one of its last nine nonconference games against Power 5 competition over the previous 18 years. However, NC State is 11-3 ATS in its last 14 home games, and this is the most talented team the school has had in quite some time.
