Yes, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights were blown out by UMass last Thursday night. But the Boston College Eagles were also trounced by a very questionable Cincinnati team, falling 34-15. That may not have been as dramatic as losing to UMass 37-21, and it certainly was not as noticed on a full Saturday as the first game of Week 1 was on Thursday. But it was, to some degree, comparatively bad.
Two weeks ago, Rutgers would have been slim favorites in this game. Perhaps it would have been a pick ’em. Moving it to a three-point edge in Boston College’s favor is a distinct overreaction, one that creates value both on the spread and on the moneyline.
