Blue blood programs with their feet to the fire have plenty of motivation to record a win as I make my Penn State vs. Michigan prediction. The Wolverines are coming off a bye week after a 20-14 road loss to Minnesota, while Penn State head coach Matt Campbell is still seeking his first conference win.

Michigan is a 6.5-point betting favorite at home from Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., leading up to Saturday's kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff (CBS).

Under 42.5 (-106 via FanDuel)

We've got two struggling offenses and a pair of stout defenses in this matchup. It has all the makings of a low-scoring affair in Ann Arbor.

Penn State QB Rocco Becht has only two touchdowns against Big 10 opponents through three games played. The rushing attack has also been anemic, averaging under 3.0 YPC.

Michigan's defense is going to make it difficult for the Nittany Lions' offense. The Wolverines have not allowed more than 20 points in any game played this season, limiting opposing offenses to a stingy 2.8 YPC.

Since opening, the point total line has moved fro 43.5, up to 44.5, then back down to its current 42.5 price. We're still through a key number of 42, which feels like a lot in this game.

📡 SBR Edge: Going Under in the Big House

Seven of Michigan's previous eight home games played have gone under the total points line.

Penn State ekes out first Big 10 win

While Becht has looked far from competent, Michigan QB Bryce Underwood is arguably an even bigger liability to his offense. Underwood has a 59% completion rate with five touchdowns and four interceptions, while dealing with a fumbling issue and averaging under 3.5 YPC.

Campbell is on the hot seat already into his Penn State tenure, so expect the Nittany Lions defense to rally behind their head coach to get a much-needed Big 10 win. Penn State wins it ugly with a late stand in Ann Arbor.

Score prediction: Penn State 20, Michigan 17
