College Football Parlay Predictions for Week 5

Michigan (-390)

If you have watched any Iowa football game this season, you would think they are trying to set football back a half-century. The Hawkeyes have scored just five offensive touchdowns through four games and rank dead-last in FBS in total offense (232.5 yards per game). Though their defense was opportunistic against Rutgers, scoring two touchdowns of their own, the Hawkeyes will need much more out of their offense to keep pace with a Michigan team averaging 489 yards per game.

Michigan entered Week 4 averaging 7.8 yards per play (seventh-highest in FBS) and was leading the nation in scoring offense. The Wolverines scored at least 50 points through their first three games for the first time in school history. Though they used J.J. McCarthy exclusively in last week’s win against Maryland, they still give opposing defenses something to think about when scouting, as they have two capable quarterbacks on their roster.

Michigan’s superior talent was on display in a 42-3 rout of Iowa in last year’s Big Ten Championship, and that gap may have only widened this year. The Wolverines are not in danger of losing this game, even on the road.

Kansas State -7 (-120)

Kansas State’s upsets of Oklahoma are becoming less surprising each year, as the Wildcats are 3-1 against the Sooners since 2019, with multiple outright wins as 21-point underdogs or higher.

What is different about the Wildcats this year is that they have a game-breaking quarterback in Nebraska transfer Adrian Martinez, who leads an offense that has not even hit its stride yet, ranking last among all Big 12 teams with 393.3 yards per game. However, the offense looked in sync against an Oklahoma defense that had allowed just 10 ppg through its first three games, shredding it for 279 yards in the first half.

Martinez and running back Deuce Vaughn combined for 264 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 46 carries. They bring that momentum into this game against a Texas Tech opponent playing its fourth of five consecutive games against top-25 opponents. That grind will take its toll this week.

Mississippi State -2.5 (-125)

Texas A&M has beaten two ranked opponents in two weeks since making a quarterback change to Max Johnson. However, the Aggies still entered Week 4 averaging 1.7 points per drive (ranked 103rd), 35 total QBR (111th), 314 YPG (109th), and had a 31 efficiency rating out of 100 (100th). In addition, A&M’s 157 offensive plays entering last week ranked 125th in FBS.

A&M has hung its hat on a solid defense that came into its game against Arkansas with 154 rushing yards per game allowed, 4 yards per rush allowed, and 2.3 yards after contact per rush. However, the Mississippi State “Air Raid” offense under Mike Leach will challenge the Aggies defense in ways no one has to this point, as it has attempted 195 passes to just 91 runs this year.

Grab this number at -2.5 now at DraftKings before it loses value if it ever gets to the key number of -3.

Combined odds: Michigan (-390) + Kansas State -7 (-120) + Mississippi Sate -2.5 (-125) = +314
