College Football Parlay Predictions for Week 3

Miami (OH) Team Total: Under 13.5 (+105)

Miami (OH) remains without starting quarterback Brett Gabbert, who suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1. Group of Five schools are not typically known for their quarterback depth, so replacing an all-conference type of talent will not be easy.

Aveon Smith has completed 16-of-26 passes (61%) for 168 yards and three touchdowns (one interception) in Gabbert’s absence, but the offense has looked much more conservative with him under center.

Cincinnati returned 36% of its defensive production from a year ago (the lowest returning percentage in the AAC), but this is the perfect opportunity for the young Bearcats to prove themselves against an undermanned in-state rival in what will feel like a home game at a neutral site.

Wisconsin -7.5 1st-Quarter Spread (-115)

It was never going to be easy for New Mexico State to score against the country’s top-projected defense. Still, it should be increasingly difficult as Wisconsin is coming off a surprising 17-14 loss to Washington State. The Badgers held the Cougars to 253 total yards and 2.4 yards per carry in the loss and should best those totals this week.

New Mexico State has been held to 12.5 points per game by Nevada and UTEP and were shut out by the lone Big Ten defense they faced thus far: Minnesota. The Aggies have used two quarterbacks this year, neither of whom have a completion percentage over 48%, and they've combined to throw six interceptions and just one touchdown.

Without the threat of a passing game, the Aggies should run for much fewer than their 3.6 yards per carry average against one of the best run defenses in the country, and the Badgers should cruise to a big lead early.

Notre Dame -10.5 (-110)

Notre Dame has been the brunt of many college football jokes all week after its loss to Marshall, the school’s first loss to an unranked non-Power Five school in six years. Things got even worse for the Fighting Irish on the injury front as starting quarterback Tyler Buchner was ruled out for four months with a significant sprain to the AC joint of his left shoulder.

However, while everyone is jumping off the Notre Dame bandwagon after becoming the third AP top-five ranked team all-time to start 0-2, this is a perfect opportunity to buy low on the Fighting Irish.

Drew Pyne takes over as the starting quarterback, and though he initially lost out on the job to Buchner, he is the more accomplished pocket passer without the dual-threat ability Buchner has. Pyne was called upon for relief duty in games against Cincinnati and Wisconsin last year. And while he had just 33 pass attempts to his name before entering against Marshall, Pyne will not be afraid of the big stage.

California nearly let UNLV rally from a 13-point deficit last week. That shaky performance came one week after the Bears were held to -1 yards in the first quarter by UC Davis. They are not talented enough to hang with the Fighting Irish, even amid all their turmoil.

Combined odds: Miami (OH) team total Under 13.5 (+105) + Wisconsin -7.5 1st-quarter spread (-115) + Notre Dame -10.5 (-110) = +631
