My Missouri vs. Kansas predictions put some stock in the Friday night atmosphere as the No. 23 Missouri Tigers visit their biggest rival in more than two decades.

Suffice it to say, Kansas Jayhawks fans will greet them with vigor and vitriol as the Border War returns to Lawrence, and I'm backing the underdogs ahead of kickoff from David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kan., at 8 p.m. ET (FOX).

Kansas +5.5 (-110 via FanDuel)

Some thought was put into taking the Kansas Moneyline here at +184 via FanDuel, but let’s show an ounce of caution. In both thoughts, though, much of the logic comes down to Jayhawks offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.

Whatever the debacle was at Penn State last season, it is difficult to put much on Kotelnicki’s shoulders. Those flaws stretched much further than an encouraging offensive coordinator hire. Regardless, he is back in Lawrence where his wrinkles have created joys for much of the 2020s.

If Kotelnicki can scheme up an extra couple of explosive plays, Kansas should have the edge on Missouri, certainly enough of an edge to stay within a touchdown. Taking this spread allows the margin for error of a backdoor cover, as well, but for everyone in attendance in Lawrence, let’s hope greater joys can be found against the rebels in gray.

Score prediction: Kansas 31, Missouri 24
