Mississippi State vs. Minnesota Prediction, Picks & Best Bets: College Football Week 2 Odds
Last Updated: September 11, 2026 2:30 PM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
My best Mississippi State vs. Minnesota prediction focuses on both offenses putting up big numbers against defenses that aren't as good as Week 1 indicates. Mississippi State is just one year removed from allowing 30.2 points per game, while Minnesota allowed 22.9.
Some sportsbooks have Minnesota as a 1.5-point favorite, while others have Mississippi State listed as a 1.5-point favorite ahead of Saturday's 3:30 p.m. ET game at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The game will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

| 💰 Pick | ⚖️ Units | 🧠 Why I bet this |
|---|---|---|
| Mississippi State (-108 via DraftKings) | 0.5u → 0.46u | Mississippi State's offense gives the Bulldogs a slight edge in a high-scoring game. |
| Over 55.5 (-105 via DraftKings) | 2u → 1.91u | Mississippi State allowed over 30 points per game last season, so Minnesota will score plenty, but so will a Mississippi State offense with over 750 yards last week. |
| Javon Tracy anytime touchdown scorer (+160 via DraftKings) | 1u → 1.6u | Tracy led Minnesota with six receiving touchdowns last year, and Mississippi State allowed 24. |

💰 Mississippi State vs. Minnesota prediction & best bet
Over 55.5 (-105)
Mississippi State put up 762 yards in Week 1, and while the Bulldogs won't hit those numbers again, it's hard not to be impressed with that performance. While Minnesota allowed just 110 yards and four first downs, that performance came against Eastern Illinois.
Last season, Mississippi State allowed at least 35 points in seven games. Therefore, while I expect Minnesota to take a step back offensively this week, the Golden Gophers should top last year's season average of 23.0 points per game.
Score prediction: Mississippi State 35 Minnesota 31
🙌 Mississippi State vs. Minnesota touchdown scorer prediction
Javon Tracy to score a touchdown (+160)
Tracy didn't score in Week 1, but he led Minnesota with five receptions for 98 yards. Last season, he led Minnesota with six receiving touchdowns, and now he faces a pass defense that allowed 24 receiving touchdowns last year. That was tied for 116th in the nation.
Every major sportsbook has this prop priced between +150 and +160, so there isn't much value in picking one over the other. That said, at the time of writing, DraftKings' price was the best.
🚀 Mississippi State vs. Minnesota same-game parlay
I'm expecting a very high-scoring game mainly because Mississippi State's offense is very good, but its defense really struggled last season. And while there are tempting plays out there, such as Darius Taylor rushing for 100+ yards or Drake Lindsey throwing two or more touchdown passes,
Kamario Taylor reaching 60 rushing yards is the safest bet for this parlay. Last season, Taylor threw more than 10 passes in two games. He rushed for at least 63 yards in both of them. He also averaged 5.6 yards per carry throughout the year.
💵 Mississippi State vs. Minnesota SGP picks
- Over 55.5
- Kamario Taylor 60+ rushing yards
Best odds: +238 via DraftKings (1u → 2.38u)
