The No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide seem to be below the broader radar now that they have fallen from college football’s absolute top tier, but handling the Kentucky Wildcats with ease could quickly garner the Tide some notice.
My Alabama vs. Kentucky predictions trust the 10.5-point road favorites at kickoff at 3:30 ET on ABC on Saturday, Sept. 12, in Lexington.

Alabama -10.5 (-108 via BetMGM)
Alabama sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell’s starting debut may have seemed modest, but he actually looked delightfully comfortable in the Crimson Tide’s offense. Throwing for 256 yards on 18-of-30 passing is intriguing enough for a debut to prompt future beliefs, and running for 90 yards on 12 attempts (sack adjusted) further emboldens that belief.
Russell may be a quarterback designed for Kalen DeBoer’s offense, while Ty Simpson clearly was not the last two seasons, despite his many qualities.
With a more efficient Tide offense in DeBoer’s Year 3, there should be Alabama value in the market for a few weeks.
Score prediction: Alabama 34, Kentucky 17
