My best Kansas vs. Utah prediction highlights how dominant No. 12 Utah's defense has been all season. Utah ranks highly in most key statistical categories and should have no trouble stopping the rushing attack of one of the most run-reliant teams in the nation.

Utah is favored by 15.5 points ahead of tonight's 10:15 p.m. ET game at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. The game will air on ESPN and stream on ESPN Unlimited.

Utah -15.5 (-110 via FanDuel)

Utah is one of the most complete teams in the country, ranking 12th in scoring offense and third in scoring defense. And it's not like Utah has been untested. This is a team that has faced two Power 4 teams, holding both to 17 points or fewer.

Utah has scored at least 31 points in every game this season, and I don't know how Kansas is going to keep up. While the Jayhawks are averaging 36 points per game, they've scored 21 or fewer points in both games against Power 4 teams. One of those games was against Arizona State, a team allowing 31.8 points per game.

📡 SBR Edge: Utes' defense dominant on third down

Utah is allowing opponents to convert on just 28.81% of their third-down attempts this season. That ranks 19th in the country. Kansas is tied for 84th in total third-down conversions, with just 24 this season.

Utah's defense is good at everything

Utah is allowing just 3.92 yards per play, which is the third-best defensive average of any team in the country. While Utah ranks 31st in passing yards allowed per game, the Utes are tied for first in passing yards allowed per attempt, giving up just 4.7 per pass. Utah is allowing just 2.87 yards per carry and 84 rushing yards per game.

While Kansas ranks eighth in rushing yards per game, averaging 254 per contest, that average is seriously inflated thanks to games against LIU and Middle Tennessee. Kansas managed 179 rushing yards on 41 carries against Arizona State, but only 80 yards on 36 carries against Missouri.

Score prediction: Utah 35 Kansas 10
