💰 Buffalo vs. Penn State prediction & best bet

Check out all of our college football predictions for more analysis across this week's slate.

Penn State -40.5 (-115 via FanDuel)

Buffalo hasn’t demonstrated anything on defense to suggest there’s a chance of slowing down the Nittany Lions in this one. The Bulls surrendered 33 points and 540 yards of total offense to FIU in their most recent contest.

Though Penn State’s offense didn’t necessarily dazzle in its opening 27-9 win over Temple, Iowa State transfer QB Rocco Becht was efficient enough in the win. The Nittany Lions locked in to blast Marshall 45-0 in the opener, so we’ve seen at least one gaudy margin against similar competition to what they’ll face this weekend.

DraftKings lists the line at -41.5 but with more favorable odds at -102. For our pick, we’ll stick with the better line despite the additional juice on the price at FanDuel. I’d bet the line up to -44.5.

📡 SBR Edge

Buffalo amassed just 308 yards of total offense in its only FBS game against FIU, and beat FCS Albany by just four points.

Penn State covering doesn’t take Under off the table

Penn State rolled Marshall 45-0, and Buffalo simply hasn’t faced a defense anywhere close to what the Nittany Lions will roll out. Penn State has allowed just nine total points in two games against Group of 6 foes, so Buffalo scoring in this game is not a foregone conclusion.

It’s a tight needle to thread, but I like Buffalo’s scoring to stay minimal enough for Under 50.5 to still have a chance, despite Penn State covering the 40.5-point spread in my game prediction.

Score prediction: Penn State 45, Buffalo 3
