A disappointing 2021 season saw the Tigers miss the college football playoff after six consecutive appearances. Fortunately, that’s created some value on the betting markets. But what are the best ways to bet on Clemson next year?

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers weren’t their usual dominant selves last year. Losses to Georgia, Pitt, and NC State sent the Tigers to the Cheez-It Bowl for a date with Iowa State.

Clemson’s inefficient passing play doomed the team last season, but signs point to an improvement this year. Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei reportedly took accountability and lost 20 pounds. The Tigers got healthier at wide receiver. And if all else fails, five-star freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik is waiting in the wings.

Below, we look at the best ways to bet on Clemson in 2022 (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, PointsBet, and WynnBet.

2022 Predictions for Clemson

Clemson to win ACC Championship (-125)

Clemson opened as a -900 favorite to win the ACC Championship last season. Clemson had dominated the conference since 2015 by winning six consecutive conference titles. including one against Notre Dame. But after one down season, the Tigers can be found at -125 to win the conference in 2021.

The Tigers don’t have frightening competition. Only four other schools in the conference are ranked in the AP’s preseason poll: NC State, Miami, Pitt, and Wake Forest. NC State lost its two leading rushers Zonovan Knight and Ricky Person. Miami made major strides in the offseason but head coach Mario Cristobal is in his first season and he may need time to fix the program. Pitt lost quarterback Kenny Pickett and will replace him with either Kedon Slovis, who struggled in the Pac-12, or Nick Patti, who has attempted 67 passes in his collegiate career. Wake Forest has already lost quarterback Sam Hartman indefinitely.

Clemson should win the ACC Atlantic handily. The Tigers will play NC State at home this year, and they haven’t lost in Death Valley since 2016. Their road trip to Wake Forest comes in mid-September, so Hartman may not be back for it. A division win means a championship appearance, and Clemson hasn’t faltered on the big stage since 2009.

Over 10.5 regular-season wins (+110)

The Tigers have one game on their schedule that genuinely concerns me: an early November road trip to Notre Dame. Fortunately, they can afford to lose in South Bend and still cash this bet.

Clemson should beat NC State and Miami at home. Miami hasn’t won in Death Valley since 2010, and NC State hasn’t done so since 2002. The last team to beat Clemson at home, Pitt, won’t play the Tigers in the regular season.

Few road trips other than the one to South Bend should pose an issue. Facing Wake Forest in Winston-Salem is only a potential problem if Hartman returns by then. Florida State could cause a scare in Tallahassee, but smart bettors can hedge this play with a small moneyline bet on the Seminoles come October.

Undefeated regular season (+415)

The Tigers are favored to win every game, including their road matchup against Notre Dame. I expect the Fighting Irish to struggle without head coach Brian Kelly. They have a tough schedule this season - road trips to Ohio State and BYU could both end in losses - and those games come before their date with Clemson.

Notre Dame could enter the matchup against Clemson with two losses. The Irish may enter with just one loss, but that will almost certainly give them a worse record than Clemson. Books will likely favor Clemson heavily come November, allowing smart bettors to hedge this play with a wager on Notre Dame’s moneyline.

DraftKings lists the Over for Clemson’s alternative win total, 11.5, at +300. That means we’re getting an extra +115 of value from PointsBet by playing this market instead.
