The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) has announced the return of BetVictor as its official betting parter for the upcoming season.

The CEBL and the Ontario sports betting site began the partnership last season in an effort to increase interest. The success of last season led to the two sides agreeing to continue the partnership into 2024.

“Over the past year, our partnership with BetVictor has not only delivered unique and entertaining engagement options and experiences for our fans but also enhanced our CEBL brand on a global scale,” CEBL commissioner Mike Morreale said. “We look forward to building on that and providing even more personalized and innovative sports betting experiences for basketball fans and fans of the CEBL through BetVictor in 2024.”

Partnership specifics

With the extension of the partnership, there will be additions to help fans enjoy a more integrated betting feel across social media platforms. The additions will include a new weekly CEBL betting show, which launched this week, across CEBL+ and the league’s social media channels.

As part of the partnership, BetVictor will continue as the presenting partner of CEBL+, delivering free streaming access to Canadians for all of its live broadcasts during the 2024 CEBL season.

“We’re thrilled to renew our partnership with the CEBL for the upcoming season and look forward to bringing more exciting content and engagement opportunities to its growing fanbase,” said Brent Almeida, Chief Commercial Officer at BVGroup, the global operator whose flagship brand is BetVictor.

Alongside the partnership announcement, BetVictor launched outright winner odds for the 2024 CEBL Championship, attempting to elevate its status among best sports betting apps in Canada.

CEBL growth

The CEBL, which is the premier men's professional basketball league in Canada, was founded in 2017 and began play with six teams in 2019.

The league has since expanded to 10 teams across the country from Langley, British Columbia, to Montreal, Quebec. According to the league, nearly three-quarters of the talent is Canadian and includes players with professional experience in the NBA, NBA G League, and International Pro Leagues, as well as top NCAA programs.

As the league's popularity grows, so too has its accessibility thanks to partnerships with BetVictor and TSN.

More than 50 CEBL games will be broadcast live nationally on TSN and Game+ this season, up from 20 last season. Fans can also livestream all regular season, playoff, and championship weekend games on CEBL+ powered by BetVictor, TSN+ and the CEBL Mobile app.

The CEBL and BetVictor form a natural partnership with both being relatively new on the scene. BetVictor launched in 2022 as it works to become one of the best sportsbooks in Canada

“2023 was a record-breaking year for the CEBL in terms of attendance and viewership and similarly, more Canadians than ever made BetVictor their choice for a safe and responsible betting experience," said Almeida. "This news underscores our commitment to supporting Canadian basketball and engaging with passionate fans of the sport and we are proud to be a part of the CEBL’s impressive growth.”

The 2024 CEBL season tipped off on May 21 when the Edmonton Stingers beat the Calgary Surge 97-79 in a nationally televised (TSN) game at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Surge set a CEBL attendance record, with 12,327 fans showing up to take in the action.
