As Alberta opened its new online gaming market on July 13, Caesars Entertainment has launched its full lineup of online gaming products in the province, offering Alberta residents three distinct digital brands from a single company.
The Las Vegas-based operator confirmed that Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, Caesars Palace Online Casino, and Horseshoe Online Casino are now live in the province. They're available to anyone 21 or older and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
Each casino brand is built around a different type of player. Caesars Palace Online Casino leans on the look and feel of its namesake Las Vegas resort, offering slots, table games, and live dealer options.
The Alberta sports betting side of the launch, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, merges wagering and casino play in a single app. Bettors can use Same Game Parlays, a new Flex Parlay option, player props, futures, and in-play markets, and the app also streams select sporting events.
Horseshoe Online Casino takes a more stripped-down approach to the Alberta online casino market, built around the brand's history of value and variety rather than a high-end theme. Combined with the sportsbook app, the three platforms give Caesars a broad footprint aimed at different kinds of bettors and casino players in one province.
“This is a defining moment for our digital business as we bring our three separately branded digital platforms online in a jurisdiction for the first time simultaneously,” said Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital. “This launch reflects our commitment to delivering premium gaming experiences supported by reliable technology and grounded in Responsible Gaming. We’re grateful for the continued collaboration of the Alberta iGaming Corporation leading up to this launch.”
Caesars enters a crowded field
Caesars is far from alone in making its move on Alberta's opening day. The province's new regulated market for online sports betting and casino gaming officially opened yesterday, with at least six major operators joining the Alberta sports betting apps world from day one.
BetMGM is entering with more than 4,000 casino titles and plans to extend its 25-game progressive jackpot network into the province, backed by Connor McDavid as its Canadian brand ambassador. FanDuel is leaning on a renewed Canadian Football League partnership and community donations tied to Alberta groups.
DraftKings plans to launch both its main sportsbook and casino app, as well as its separate Golden Nugget Online Casino brand, on the same day, while donating to Food Banks Alberta. UK-based bet365 is converting its prior grey-market presence into a licensed operator under the new rules, offering betting on close to 100 sports.
Penn Entertainment also introduced its theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino, theScore Casino, and Hollywood Casino.
Industry estimates suggest Alberta could see as many as 25 licensed operator sites active on launch day, roughly double the number Ontario had when its market opened in 2022.
