BetMGM looks to be seizing on the incredible early success of the newest U.S. legal sports betting state, North Carolina, with the announcement that it has been named title sponsor of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Signing title sponsorships has been a popular thing to do for our best sports betting sites as the industry continues to progress.

The latest deal between the two immovable sports forces in the broad American sporting scene builds on a partnership deal that one of the North Carolina sports betting apps, BetMGM, and Charlotte Motor Speedway signed in January to give the sports betting behemoth access to the North Carolina sports wagering scene.

On Wednesday it was announced that BetMGM has been named the entitlement sponsor of the BetMGM 300, which goes down May 25 at one of America’s iconic Motor Speedways. The newly named BetMGM 300 is just one of the races on NASCAR’s extremely popular Xfinity Series. The Xfnity Series features future stars of NASCAR in an exciting warm-up race to Sunday's main event in Charlotte.

The new relationship will also see BetMGM Speed Street created and delivering three full days of entertainment for NASCAR fans during the three-race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“When we first started talking about a partnership with BetMGM, one of the things that interested us was finding a partner that would activate at our events and add value to the fan experience,” said Charlotte Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Greg Walter. “Bringing them on as both the race entitlement and Speed Street sponsor will help elevate their brand to the NASCAR audience and provide those on-site for our race weekend the chance to connect and engage in North Carolina’s next era of sports entertainment.”

What the deal entails

BetMGM gets to float its name as the title sponsor of the BetMGM 300, which takes place on Saturday, May 25, during a packed weekend in Charlotte. It's a big get for one of our best sportsbooks.

BetMGM gains valuable exposure from signage at Charlotte Motor Speedway throughout one of the biggest weekends on the NASCAR calendar. It will also take advantage of a massive presence in Charlotte for the NASCAR event.

BetMGM will have hospitality opportunities throughout the weekend and a "display activation in the BetMGM Speed Street," where the brand itself will be heavily promoted. Fans of NASCAR and North Carolina's new sports wagering platform can learn more about the BetMGM sports betting app. The brand will focus on easy download options during the three-day period.

As Matt Prevost, BetMGM Chief Revenue Office, put it, “As we look to grow our brand in North Carolina, there is no better time and place than Charlotte Motor Speedway on Memorial Day Weekend. Our team looks forward to introducing sports betting to a new audience and helping add to the overall experience for fans throughout the entire Speed Street event and BetMGM 300 race.”

This is why they are there

The push for a legal North Carolina sports betting platform was fueled largely by the popularity of NASCAR and that sport's embrace of sports betting.

North Carolina is home to some of the most iconic NASCAR races on the calendar. Fans of the sport in the state passionately support its drivers, unlike any sports in the North American market. They'll surely want to take advantage of North Carolina sportsbook promos.

North Carolina, thanks in part to NASCAR, launched its legal sports betting platform Monday with eight North Carolina sports betting sites. And according to early numbers from GeoComply, the platform has already been a success.

The geolocation tracking company reported 5.3 million checks in the first 48 hours of operation and identified 370,000 active sports betting accounts in the state.
