#107Do these FVCKS get a 2 minute break or something between games? do they Timeouts, which most likely they've already used?
I can't imagine going 7+hours of straight tennis. Luckily Isner is only 20 and you'd think he'd have the better legs to last this long.Comment -

#111the bad thing now, at this point, neither player want to take a risk, "wasting" energy at opponent serve to try to win some quality points...Comment -

#112It's funny but to me Isner looks in worse shape than Mahut.Originally posted by ngates815Do these FVCKS get a 2 minute break or something between games? do they Timeouts, which most likely they've already used? I figure both of these guys should get the check for the next round. They've played more tennis in this match than most do in 3 or 4.
And Isner just broke the ace record!!

#128What a joke - this rule needs to be changed. Yeah it's not likely we'll see another match with 80+ games in the 5th set, but this is bullshit for the players. Whomever goes through has little hope of winning a set in the next round, let alone the match.Comment -

#133Sucks for the players, but this is good stuff if you ask me. If they didn't want it to go this damn far they should have won it 30 games ago.Originally posted by shari91What a joke - this rule needs to be changed. #140Is there an sporting analogy to this game?
I remember the first match Karpov-Kasparov (1984). Then the rules were for an unlimited match, first one to win 6 games (draws not counting) win the match. Even behind 4-0 (and later 5-0), Kasparov strategy was to draw every game. An older Karpov was tiring badly after game 40, and lost 3 games. So, after 48 games, with the score Karpov 5, Kasparov 3 and 40 draws, after 3 months of playing, the match was terminated by FIDE. A new match was played in 1985 with a 24 games limit.
This tennis match resembles the situation. Both players not making a real effort to win, Karpov hoping for a blunder by Kasparov to end the match, and Kasparov waiting for a breakdown by Karpov.Comment
