It seems .com addresses will be replaced with country specific extensions which are not subject to confiscation by the US. In a few months all the books will have something other than .com.

Other than domain seizures it seems business as usual. Processors will get hit here and there but it's a fundamentally different situation from what brought the big poker sites down.

If that was the intention, Congress could very easily set up usbetting.com and charge -105 vig and guarantee your money with the FDIC and every book out there would go out of business. This would make the goverment a hell of a lot more money than any taxes.

It started with copyright infringement websites and now the US government has begun to seize popular online gambling websites, most of which are based outside the US in jurisdictions such as Costa Rica and Canada.

It’s not as simple as hosting your website in other countries or using registrars based in Europe and elsewhere, any .com, .net and .org extension sites are vulnerable.

VeriSign operates .com, .net, .cc, .name and .tv while Afilias operates .info, .org, .mobi, .in, .me, .aero and more. If certain SEO or brand related issues are holding you back from avoiding these TLDs, I have my own experience to share to the contrary. Google will not punish your site if you have a .ch or .eu extension.

It will be interesting to see how much cash was actually seized in this operation. If anyone finds any info, please post. This one processor did over 30 mil in transactions over the two years so I have to imagine the DOJ got at least a couple million. That coupled with a panic to cash out could cause some liquidity problems for some of these guys.
